mostin
The phone rang this evening and my OH answered it, he looked at me and smirked and said "It must be for you, it's somewhere called Glencroft poultry". Oh my god! I had placed an order in Oct with them for 4 POL hens for Mar 2009 but that was before OH went self employed and credit crunch etc. I thought I had cancelled the order. Turns out I hadn't . I took the phone fully intending to say "I'm sorry but I can't take those girls anymore" instead it came out as "Delivery tomorrow?, Yes that's perfectly fine, my husband will be in to receive them" . Aaaaaaaahhhhhh. Oh dear. Well, OH took it quite well, and it is my birthday in a couple of weeks so we have just been out in the snow converting one of the garden huts into temporary accomodation for our new girls. Luckily Laurmaurf is lending me her spare eglu on Sat, bless her . OH now has to build a house for them to live in for the summer while I save up for the cube for them all to live in together . Bless him, he is so hen-pecked . Edited February 14, 2009 by Guest

laurmurf
Oh MOSTIN! Congratulations I thought it was ONE birthday chicken.... hee hee hee! Your darling OH adores you, don't he?! Is there any way we can get the eglu to you tomorrow? Ellie power washed it at the weekend, it's all in pieces and just needs the run broken down into a couple of pieces. Which girls are you getting from Glencroft? That's where we got ours - lovely birds! All birds are lovely though, aren't they?

mostin
Well I feel a bit daft admitting this but I'm not quite sure what I ordered , and when he phoned I was in such a "flap", excuse the pun, I wasn't concentrating. I think I am getting 2 colton/corton (sp) blues a blue/green laying hybrid that are bluey green feathered as well. 1 columbine a blue/green egg laying hybrid bit confused as I thought columbines/colton blues were the same, but they must be different. and 1 Suffolk Noir, Suffolk Noirs are a hybrid with Rhode Island fathers and Copper Black Maran mothers. I'll be posting photos as soon as I can anyway, so you can all give me your views
Yorkshire Pudding
oooh exciting! Well done you for forgetting all about the order - but I think your OH is better hen-pecked than mine, sorry, better trained... My 2 latest girls came from Glencroft and they are fab, lovely healthy birds and they're laying like mad (and very very friendly too). Looking forward to seeing them! mostin
I love the way your hubby smirked and handed you the phone I know , he knows me too well. It's very sweet of him to believe I tried my hardest to cancel the order. I sent one email cancelling it, they never answered, and then I forgot all about it . By the way, my Dot and Bea are the Suffolk Noirs and they are lovely colours and lay dark brown eggs! That's why I ordered that girl . Thanks Laurie. I was trying to get lots of different coloured eggs and i had forgotten she would lay dark ones. It's been so long since the order I had forgotten my reasons . HENthusiastic
Wonder if Mostin will be able to log on today while she's at work. It must be driving her mad, not being at home to wait to greet them.

The Dogmother
Rosie would never believe me if I said that I cancelled an order for chickens - she's known me to go out with the chicken box to get 'one to replace one' and come back with four!!! HENthusiastic
It does have a certain quality to it doesn't it.............. oh goodness me......... I seem to have forgotten that I sourced a chicken breeder............. chose four new girls............ placed and order.................... I wonder what I might have forgotten about??? OH is climbing the walls wanting new chickens now! We are both so but so that we will be able to see them soon. Edited to say: I really will change my Christmas avatar before March
mostin
I'm here here trapped at work , I can't bare it but I am having fun driving everyone at work absolutely bonkers with anoyance . Plus I am ringing my OH alot to see if they have arrived yet but they haven't . We are being inspected at work today so everybody is being deadly serious and stressed out, plus we are not meant to be messing about on the internet . I can't be bothered with all that today though when all can think about is going home to my new chickens . I am starting to get told to shut up alot now though, so for the good of the lab I thought I should come on here and vent my excitement. OH beter ring me as soon as they are delivered *taps foot with impatience*. And he's promised to take photos in the daylight as it will be dark by the time I get home Can't wait ...................................... HENthusiastic
What time do you get home? It must be driving you crackers. How about you put your work phone number on here and the names of the inspectors and all the omletteers can phone up repeatedly, asking to speak to them and trying to keep them on the phone. If we set up a rota, we could keep them busy all afternoon and "Ooops, word censored!"ody would notice if you just slipped out the back door??? Don't forget OH could send you piccis on your phone. On second thoughts, to see them and not be able to be with them might make you explode with excitement and frustration Any news yet??
