I've only just seen this thread Lesley and I'm really sorry. Your son and Luton airport always means there will be terrible weather, it seems. :( His girlfriend must be so, so distressed. :(

Lesley, if all the usual hotels are booked up try the Chiltern Hotel in Luton, it usually has some rooms available but it would be a taxi ride :(

 

Ones nearer the airport are Premier Travel Inn and Holiday Inn Express

 

If there was access to my village I would offer them my spare room but we are cut off, sorry

Thanks Tasha, that's very kind.

 

I have booked them into the Ibis for 2 nights. It's just 600m away.

 

Fingers crossed for Sunday morning........

 

.....and the best bit is.........they had booked this trip last October (as D's Mum was very ill but didn't want them to visit until she'd had her op. It has coincided with her mother needing further treatment and so made it more imperative that they go) and my daughter and SIL and two grandchildren booked at the same time to go and join them for a holiday in the snow - because we never get any decent snow here :roll:

 

They are due to fly next Friday......... :?

I was going to offer to put them up too but I know the 505 between Hitchin & Luton has been awful today. Sorry that they have had all these problems. :(

 

For future reference, give me a shout if you need to use Luton airport and have early flights. I can get you there in 15 mins from my house and have a spare room. :D

:lol: - I just posted in the Weather thread - I thought you might all be fed-up with my family sage! :roll:

 

The rest of the family made it to Luton for 6am - they leave their car in the airport car park. The flight in from Cluj was a little late so they will be about 30 mins late leaving - should be in the air now but boards not updated yet.

 

I've also heard from my son this morning - that part of the world normally has lots of snow which is why they've all gone to join him and g/f - but they haven't had any snow :shock:

 

......until an hour ago :D - lots of lovely white stuff....and they are geared up to cope with it so there shouldn't be too many problems with the 2 hours travelling at the other end.
