pencilbeckett
Hi All I know i dont post very often but i do lurk quite often. I have two exbatts Henrietta and Geraldine. Well Henrietta is gone and i just dont know where she went. I have a small eglu and the 25 metre omlet fence and i let them range in the fencing in the day on the field next to our house. I came back this afternoon and found Geraldine in the eglu just sat alone and no sign of Henrietta no feathers around or anything. I have searched but it was starting to get dark and there was no sign of her. I feel so sad she had such a bad start as an exbatt and we only got them in June. I also have the dilemma of one lone girl. I am sat here crying thinking that she may be outside somewhere as we live on a farm and have loads of bushes and outbuildings. Our local fox comes every night for bread off our garden that the birds dont take so i know she will definately not make it until the morning. Egluntyne
What a shame. Fingers crossed that she has just gone walk about. She might turn up in a neighbours garden tomorrow.
Ain't Nobody Here
Oh no, how sad . You never know, she may have found a safe, cosy spot somewhere for the night .
laurmurf
Oh Jenni, i'm so sorry to hear about your missing girl - it may be that you find her in the morning and I do hope that is the case! Just remember what a fabulous life she's had since you rescued her. She went from a tiny cage to a lovely free range life, it must have been wonderful for her! pencilbeckett
Hi Guys Thanks for your kind replys. However, no sign of Henrietta today so i think it must have been Mr Fox. Feel so sorry for Geraldine she looks so lonely. I have searched the whole field today i did find an egg in the bush but the girls got out the other day when my husband left the fence down so i think it was from then. Plum
It doesn't mean you aren't still grieving your lost girl. Don't feel bad, it will comfort you as well your other girl.
MedusA
So sorry to hear about your lost hen. Glad you are getting friends for your lonely girl though. I'm hoping for some ex batts as soon as I pluck up the courage to upgrade to a cube.
dancing cloud
So sorry to hear about Henrietta but you really shouldn't feel bad about getting more girls. Geraldine will appreciate being part of a flock again and some more very lucky little hens will be coming to a lovely retirement. ((hugs)) to you all.
