pencilbeckett
Hi Well i have just posted about introducing pekin bantams to a lonely ex batt. Low and behold i googled chicken breeders in Staffordshire and there are white pekins available 5 mins from my house. I did want lavender and the breeder does have lavender cockrels but no hens at the moment. Now i have a dilemma, do i have two white bantams or do i wait until the 28th Feb and see if there are any spare ex batts from the rescue my local co-ordinater is doing. He says all the ex batts are taken but he might get some extras out on the day. Otherwise Geradldine will be alone until April. Arrrrrggggh decisions decisions. I will feel guilty not having exbatts as they need homes but i just love the pekins. Just out of interest how big are pekin eggs and what colour eggs do white or lavender pekins lay? Ain't Nobody Here
April seems an awfully long time away to leave a lone hen all on her lonesome . That's all I'm saying .
AbigailGrace
Well I think a little change is good.. But it's up to you just talk to the breeder and find out what they think about it.. Hope all goes well.. Abigail Grace
Scramble
I have a Lavender pekin and she is lovely, there's not much difference in the colour as she's quite pale anyway. Yolko hasn't come into lay yet but my gold-partridge one has and her eggs are a very pale cream, almost white she lays every other day and her average egg weight is 36g I think, she's lays a few 37g and 35g but once a 38g , she has only just come into lay tho but now she's gone broody, so no eggs for a while! They are very sweet though and tame and love cuddles! They have such personalities and my lavender on looks like a cotton wool ball running aroung the garden! Would definitely recommend the pekins Good Luck with your choice.
SAB
I have pekins along with my ex-batts (and others) and they get on great together - they are the friendliest of my birds.

pencilbeckett
Looks like a great place but it is quite far away. If i dont get any reserve hens in Feb i might take a drive up. My white bantams are a no go the info on the site was not up to date and it will be may before she has anymore. I am going to get a cube so i might get some pekins in May to live in the little eglu. But it means i still need a friend for Geraldine so fingers crossed for the BHWT.
