poachedegg
If I had the space, I would have them like a shot - seems such a shame knowing what they have been put throught to now be put up for sale. Wish I had a bigger garden. feemcg
They say they're giving up keeping ex-batts......couldn't of had them very long if they're only 14 months old
Alfred
they seem to be charging quite a bit for them as well! Considering they cost about 50p-£1 each depending on the source!
Guest
who knows what the reasons are or the circunstances I just find it so sad that these girls are being moved on on yet again. They deserve a permanent and loving home. I wish I had the room

Tweety
I have emailed these people to see if the hens are still available, and am hoping that my DH will let me have them. It is such a shame that they have to move again after all they have been through, but if they come to me they will have a very happy home and lots of TLC for the rest of their little lives. It breaks my heart that I couldn't even squeeze just 2 of them in but lovely to hear Tweety has come to the rescue
blackgold
All exbatts must be around 18 months when they come out so i am sorry but i find this add a bit suspect. I gave a donation for mine but the price was £1.50 per hen. Suexxx

Tweety
Apparently all the hens are still for sale. I am waiting for answers to my questions about their condition and the asking price of £20, and will keep you posted.
daj198
Perhaps they got them 14 months ago???
Egluntyne
The reasons for selling could be genuine and due to changed circumstances....but they may have stopped laying. If you want laying hens, check them over carefully for signs....wideness of pelvis, condition of vent etc. Look in their nest box too. I'd give them a mini health check too. If they look healthy....fantastic. If not, you might want to reconsider. If you are happy to offer them a home whatever their stage, go for it and well done. Tweety
I have not yet heard from the seller in response to my questions about these hens, and hope I haven't frightened them off. TBH I am not bothered about eggs and would take the hens in any event, but I just wanted to check on their health and reasons for the price asked - the sum of £20 is not the problem, but I would rather donate it to BHWT unless there is a compelling reason otherwise. helenarees
Hello, I'm not sure if this is the same in this instance but someone was trying to sell some ex-battery (BHWT) hens on preloved a while back which was brought up as a thread on this forum a while ago but in that case the hens were from the BHWT so they had to be returned to them if they could no longer keep them. I'm sure someone with a better memory than me can recall the exact thread for this or perhaps I'm just getting confused! Helena
Tweety
Still no reply to my questions about these poor hens, so I'm not really sure what to do next. It appears that the seller did not like my questions, although I only asked what I thought any responsible potential buyer would ask ie where did the hens come from, how long had they had them, what condition they are in, and why they were asking £20 for 7 hens when the BHWT only ask for £1 per hen. What shall I do?
Guest
where do you live? I'm near warrington so if you want me to mail them again on your behalf PM me their mail address and I'll see if I get a response? I'll come with you to collect them aswell if you like? we could always ask to see them first and then ask the questions when we get there? Ash
When we had to rehome one of our cats (wasnt settleing in and attacking the established cats) we put an ad out for free to a good home. We were sent a message suggesting we asked for £20 for the cat so that only serious people who would care for the cat would reply. It worked and the cat went to a lovely couple and I got beer So mabey they are only asking £20 so riff raff who are unprepared dont see the word free and think they can just have them live in the garden without proper care. Do you see what I mean ?
Tweety
I had thought of that Ash but, if that is the case, the seller could reply to my email and say so.
