fluffyknickers
My three have taken to pecking me and my clothing and now my engagement and wedding rings! They were allowed out today while I was in the kitchen and have this thing now whereby they hang around the kitchen door which I had open as my 2 year old would only eat her lunch if she could watch them . They then kept coming in the kitchen and even though I dont mind husband wouldnt be happy so I shooed them out (but they still kept coming in!). I then put my little girl to bed for a nap and went out to clean the best hole and have a pooh pick (the joys!). Well they are at me like wild things and actually JUMPING up to get my buttons, zips, rings, tags on clothes - ANYTHING! I dont mind but was a little nervous if I am honest as when I was concentrating om things it really makes me jump and does hurt a bit. Mainly worried they will go for the kids when they are out playing and even their eyes? Am i over worrying? Can you stop this or is it just what they do? Egluntyne
I find they tend to go for anything shiny.
PurpleTree
One of my girls has pecked my kids fingers, I make them wear gloves when they're out in the garden with them, although my two year old doesn't keep them on for long. I'm hoping she'll have stopped doing it by the Summer. My girls make a dash for the kitchen as soon as I open the back door, if I leave it open for too long they're in like a shot. BarbaraJ
all chickens want in the back door lol i use a stairgate on mine with a tasteful ribbon curtain thing on top lol in the summer once i saw one sitting on top of the gate. I used to hand feed mine as suggested on here but didn't last long as they HURT and kept trying to peck me. Now they connect their treat bowl with food rather than my hands so i haven't been pecked since, they weren't trying to peck me as sch just desperate for their treats. Falkor
I have stopped feeding mine from my hand too as everytime I put my had in the run to get the grub etc I was getting pecked and although it doesn`t really hurt it is a surprise as you are not expecting it. All treats go in the big green dog bowl now or corn gets scattered about. The green bowl is great for getting them in the run too as they see it and follow However i do have to admit to feeding stella from my hand still Well, she jumps on my lap, tilts her head to one side and asks SO nicely! See it isn`t my fault, she's TOO cute!
Margalot
Mine too seem to be able to peck the most sensitive parts of my hands and love my wedding ring! The other day when I was bent over changing their water they even went as far as pecking my bottom , I told them straight away "I am definately not going to be bottom of the pecking order - so you can stop that!" The cheek of it! Michelle
