any ideas what's wrong with Gladys?

Recommended Posts

When we got home yesterday we saw patches of water on the slabs in the run that I haven't woodchipped yet - we thought it was water dribbling in from somewhere but later I saw Gladys do a poo that was really just water and realised it had come from her! She seemed ok otherwise yesterday but this morning is a bit subdued (not telling Glenda off as she usually does!) she's done another watery poo and is drinking a lot and not very interested in food - she's had a little peck but no more.

I've put some citricidal in the water and they've had bokashi from day one - I've also put some diatomaceous earth in the food this morning but won't do much good if she's not eating it! Is there anything else I can do? Could it be a reaction to something she's eaten? The only extras I've given is a small amount of sweetcorn and some spinach, and they had some of the straw bedding I was using which then got changed to aubiose. Part of the run is on soil, which Gladys in particular spends a lot of time digging through (I think she's planning the great escape mark 2!) so she may have found something that doesn't agree with her in there.

Hope someone has some ideas,

They do sometimes have a bit of an upset stomach when they are settling in. Probiotic yoghurt is good for upset tums. Try mixing a bit in with her pellets. Have you wormed her and Glenda? Runny poo can sometimes be a sign of worms.

Keep an eye on her re the not eating etc and if she doesn't improve i'd take her to the vet.

think I've solved this one - she laid her first egg today! Very surprised thought Glenda would beat her to it as she's showing more signs of being ready but there you go. Completely silent lay as well, I was watching and thought she was trying to dust bathe in the nest box!
