sunshinesupernova
I've only been a chicken mummy for a couple of weeks. The 3 cream legbars came Saturday before last. Two of them are a bit lighter in colour and fairly wild / scatty. The third was just as scatty - but is really coming round over the last 4 days. She now comes running down the garden and is first equal at my feet with Feathers - grubbing.... The last couple of days, she's getting hungrier and hungrier (there is PLENTY of food !) and also putting her back to me and sticking her wings out and squawking. I can stroke her and she'll just sit there...... whereas she used to run a mile. Chook has well developed comb and wattles - reddening nicely. Is this crouching and could I see a or soon ? Hen Watch
Definate crouching behaviour and pre-laying increased appetite. May still be a little while, but definately she's gearing up for it. Fingers crossed.

Happy healthy hen and cute little perfect eggs Gin started laying Friday before last and the eggs started at 43 and have worked their way up a gram or two at a time and today she laid 54g. I think this is officially a "medium" egg. (someone correct me of i am wrong)
piptiddlepip
The funny thing is, our Gytha has NEVER crouched for us and she's a really standoffish, stroppy chicken but she lays soem absolute whoppers. Well done though!
