westleigh
Hi i wouldnt say that my bluebelle is at all laid back but my orps are, what area do you live in as i know of people who breed bantam orps
Griffin
My Bluebell is the noisiest of my lot, she doesn't shut up the whole time I'm outside, giving a running commentary She's very nosey, has to be as close to me as possible and doesn't really seem to have any friends, she's always on her own outside. I think she'd prefer to live inside with me I wouldn't call her laid back. Demanding suits her
Guest
Actually thats why i asked the question!!! feemcg
My Bluebelle is one of my oldest chooks, and top chook since Beauty died. She is pretty and friendly.........and sleeps on the roof of the Cube at night as if she's watching over the flock

TAJ
My bluebelle is my friendliest hen and loves cuddles, lays well and looks pretty & isn't noisey. May be I am biased, but I like bluebelles. Tracy
Falkor
My new Bluebelle will be coming home on Saturday so will let you know my first impressions shortly Oooh but my Orps are lovely, the lawn is still intact as they don`t scratch about on it and they are great for a snuggle! alih
I absolutely love bluebelles - they are next on my list and everyone I know who has them says they are lovely hens to have, very sweet and not stroppy or flighty...
Mazzarina
My bluebelle is friendly, a good layer, quite bossy (top of the pecking order), easy to handle. Bluebelles are quite heavy birds, which I think is another factor worth bearing in mind if you're thinking about bantams too.
Chook n Boo Mum
This is my findings on these little feathered friends..... My bluebelle, called Bluebell (!!!!) is a lovely girl & is only mouthy when concerned about something - like the neighbours cat is the wrong side of the fence, or she's lost her "sisters"(when there were only 3 of them!). She is very friendly & nosy, but not terribly keen on being picked up if there's been a gap between cuddles (with 11 I'd be out there all day if I cuddled them all everyday !!) She's very happy once in my arms though. She's about half as heavy again as my Goldline & Amber Star - big girl! My Orpies - big blue & blue splash girls, not a ginger one amongst them - are the noisiest of the gang, If one chook is in the nest box & makes a sound, the cry goes up & around the flock, from one bird to the next several times, just in case someone - in the next village maybe - missed it the first time!!! They like to announce that morning has broken - but they have to stay in until I go down & I will not be bullied (much!) into going down any earlier than I see fit! - and that we have visitors & last time didn't shut up until the visitor left! They are also very feisty. I'm hoping that eventually everything will settle & I'll develop a set of docile, quiet dowager duchesses who don't pick on the others! Things are getting better...next step to integrate the batties into the big run, they all free range happily enough, then Peanut won't get so stressed at having to wait to lay her egg in Jasper's nestbox, like this morning. They live in the Smurf with it's own run! They are all so different aren't they?! Sha x

Chook n Boo Mum
Um toddlers springs to mind here indie Yes, very similar to having a gang of toddlers in the garden at times!! Add the dogs too.........and oh my goodness ! Sha x

Chook n Boo Mum
My 3 Labs have all their noses well & truly pecked, so are now perfectly safe to leave with the chooks........provided no food is around, as they have a tendency to hoover up all leftovers !!! I even found the black one in the cube run the other day drinking out of the super glug! Sha x
tidygirlsuk
My bellebelle, is skittish and freaks the others out. it took 3 weeks to get her eating out my hand, and she is the only 1 that i can't pick up. however it is still early days and they are not laying yet. i hear that they are easier to pick up when crouching. Minnie&Moose
Our bluebelle is definitely the most nosey and the friendliest of our 4. She was a bit difficult to catch until she started laying but now she squats for everyone, including the cat She's a real sweetie, and is always the first to come running whenever we call them. Looney
We recently added a bluebelle and a black rock to our garden and I have to say that the bluebelle is not as friendly as the black rock. She is beautiful but slightly more reluctant where contact with humans is involved....she has only just started laying though so perhaps that will change... The black rock was friendly from day one!
