Ain't Nobody Here
Aww, bless them, that brought a tear to my eye . What lucky girls, coming home with you though - I bet they'll perk up in no time .
Guest
how lovely you'll soon work out what their individual needs are. It's difficult for me to advise you as all chooks are different but you seem to be doing fine. Just make sure they can reach their food and water, maybe put it in heavy bowls for they can't knock them over (which you seem to have done anyway) and I'm sure you'll be fine Don't forget the cherries! They do actually seem to be making a difference to Bea. As I said, you can get a really large jar (without the pits in) from Lidl for 99p, they're in syrup but you can just rinse that off. Cherries are really good for poorly joints. xxxx

Guest
Cherries are really good for poorly joints. I never knew that . Is that for humans too? absolutely! Have a read of this for example http://www.wcyh.org.uk/herbs/herbs/tart-cherry/ I bought 3 cherry trees when Aldi were doing them cheap, setting us up for our old age

sandyhas3chucks
I don't expect little Cutie to do very much more though as her leg gets stronger she may stand bit more. sorry if I already told you, She was a Dec 6 relaes & the vet thibjs sje was most likey born witg dislocating hocks. So she would have spent her life like it in that cage!" Ahe was kept back and did go for rehoming but came back. Her pal seems to be Hoppity Rosie with one lrg shorter than the other / the brockrn lrg mrnded onerlapped, She gets about very slowly as you see one step forward half or more steps back Blossom is normal, but was kept back cos she was all naked. but was the latest release/ And Scrags same & limp. None of the 3 have just the one injury. there are other breaks & damage to joints and Cutie has arthritis too. They all stay very close together , very sweet abd NEVER far from a food dish, which means not far from Cutie. BOY DO THESE CHOOKS EAT

sandyhas3chucks
Well they are all settling nicely, free range in the same garden with the other 2, but not often in the same space, a few feisty moments which is hard with disabled girls. but slowly does it, very funny watching them sort of tiptoe past each other but tall necks & puffed out chests until just past a a fast waddle or limp! I "think "that poor Hoppity Rosie might have had a damaged air sac at some time with her injuries. She is fine in herself, but remember the asthma attack(best description), well sometimes she just puffs/wheezes. I saw her laying down (normal sort laying down) & thought she might be straining to lay an egg as her rear end was pulsing too. But today I was watching her she doesn't seem to do it as much when she is standing up, but it is like it is hard to get her breath. She was the one that the vet gave the antibiotic to. I will need to speak with him towards the end of the week cos the little one was on Metacam for 2 weeks. Need to see what he advices about that too. She seems to be improving with additional caring, individual feds 3 times a day, she can get to the food but does have to compete with the other 3. (got new circular feeder & the grub, but there is still competition, so perhaps she didn't have enough strength to try. She does this pitiful call if she gets left by the others, or when I put her in the sun before the others get to her. She had a dust bath which was a real ahhhh moment. boththose poor legs going like mad then, I bet she ached like I did/do after helping on the rescue Saturday !I really hope her friend Hoppity Rosie does not have anything sinister as she does like her to lay with her. Poet will pm you about sleeping arrangements.
