susanbb
As you can see I went for a theme with my girls. You may want to choose names that are memorable for whatever reason. Well done on your soon to be new additions
Chickvic
I used precious stones/jewels and will continue the theme when I get 2 new girls later this year. Do you have a favourite programme or something you can use for inspiration

Jules.
For our bantams we decided to research where the chickens originated. Silkies are from China so we named our Su Li Dad wanted to call it xiao xiang Not that this should influence your decision
Little Chicken
I was buying plates with chickens on them at the Royal Welsh Show, and the seller said I couldn't have them unless I thought up names for the chickens! At that time the names I wanted for my chickens when I finally get them were Holly and Ivy, April and Amber, and Misty, Frosty and Cloudy. I got my plates! Minnie the Moocher
Mine are named after relatives. Except for Tinkerbell and Jimi Hendrix. I'm not related to either of them.
Gem_Seb
Haha! good replies! thanks for the ideas!! we want to name them a bit different! our cats are called Jodie and Seb but they came with those names from the rehoming centre so no theme there!! the relatives idea is good!! lol! not sure the family would appreciate that!! i know my friend will pick a really random name for the one shes allowed to name due to me calling her cat Boris! hehe! hmmm its so hard! we have 2 white silkies and one black so could pick something to do with their colourings i guess! This naming thing is too difficult! we have always got our pets from rehoming centres so just kept the names they arrive with!!
Minnie the Moocher
the relatives idea is good!! lol! not sure the family would appreciate that! I haven't told the relatives in question! They are all rather elderly or have died, and it's meant in the nicest possible of ways.

Do you have nice relatives, then? I met someone who said she had a chicken called Camilla, because her headdress was like Camilla's wedding hat, and...wait for it... a battery hen called Duracell! I was just wondering where Chicken 4 was, then got to the bottom I'm thinking it could also be used if one had many children?
Margalot
We named after we got them to see what they looked like etc, My hen started off as the fattest, and my OH said fatty Boom Boom, which we kindly adjusted to Bon Bon so she wouldnt get offended, My son named his Ginger after Ginger in Chicken Run, and she was Ginger colour, My daughter is into all things dark, chose a black hen and called her Midnight My Husband wanted to call his Tinker, no reason given, we all did not like the name, he was most put out saying that we were all able to name our hens, so it was up to him!!, we unanimously decide that Tinkerbelle was prettier...........but now we all call her Tinker! If I could rename or get new hens it will be after the ladies from the Simpsons, Marge, Patty, Selma, Mrs Krabappel,Maggie etc. Good luck Just bear in Mind if you ever need to visit a vet though as my vet call you in using the chickens name follwed by your surname, could be embarrasing he he Michelle
Griffin
Feel free to use my chicken names as inspiration. All the animals in my house have proper human names so it made sense to carry on with the chickens. When we got our first five we stupidly allowed my OH to name one, hence Mrs Pants We like to steal song titles as names too, hence Valerie and Juliet (as in Romeo & Juliet). I need one called Layla Pancake is named after a racehorse. Our dearly departed Catherine Columbine was named after Catherine of Aragon. I feel the need to use some other regal names in the future! Solopuff
Amongst our chickens the white ones are Snowy, Minty and Saffy. The black are Ebony, Blackberry, and Fluffy. Our silkie is Misty (she's a blue silkie). We did have another called Puff who unfortunately died when a chick. Others in the range are/were Perry, Saffy, Nugget, Lacey, Polka, Checki, Smokey, Honeysuckle, Sweetpea, Kizzy, Cuckoo, Bessie, Ruby, Shadow (RIP), Sky (RIP), Poppy (RIP) Solo (RIP) and Flame (RIP). We're getting our two kittens on Sunday and are having fun thinking of names for them! Good luck!
C&T
I spent months thinking up the perfect names - and eventually decided on Hilda and Doris. Real old names that struck me as being PERFECT for chickens! I had decided on these names even before OH agreed to getting the chooks! Then they arrived, I took one look at them, and changed to Fred and Ginger!
Egluntyne
There is a section on **chicken names** on the Wiki.
*mummy_hen*
I like proper old fashioned names for my girls, although OH named Edwina and Henrietta which are both also nice. Have you got a baby name book or something you could use for inspiration? Maybe plants/flowers would be nice; Poppy, Lilly, Rosemary, etc.
purplefowler
We went for names that make us laugh (well KO Joe is from chock socky chooks, if you have kids you will understand, if you don't you are very lucky!). Elvis is my one and is a good all purpose name as far as I am concerned. My 4 year old son came up with knickers because he thought is would be funny to chase his knickers round the garden You just have to love kid logic! Naming hte chooks was a real highlight for me and my boys and we really enjoyed thinking about it (believe me, knickers really was his most sensible idea!). ValerieR
Hey Griffin you've got a chicken with the same name as me! We are going to name ours after my older sisters - Janice, Joyce and Sheila. mainly to annoy them and amuse ourselves I also have cats named Sarah, Mac, Archie and Stuart. We used to have cats named Andrew, Alasdair, Duncan and Fiona. When I was a kiddie I had cats named Phyllis and Angus.
