chickencam
So we should, a bit of healthy national pride would do us all good at the moment
Mrs Frugal
We always plant out some of our seed potatoes on St George's Day so are going to trot off to the lottie this evening and put the second earlies in. I feel that it's a lucky day for planting .

Seagazer
My YS bought a flag to fly last weekend but I can't find it anywhere. It took me ages to find enough red felt tip pens to draw a flag, but its done and its in the window I'm pleased to say there are lots of flags flying everywhere. HAPPY ST. GEORGE'S DAY

Omletina Kyckling
My neighbours over the road have a huge St George's Day flag flying at the front of their house, it looks beautiful!
fluffyfeet
We keep our flag up all year round - cos we're proud to be English every day (although the winds a few weeks ago snapped the last one clean off) OH put a brand new one up yesterday and it looks lovely. A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Happy day celebrating a Turk who slayed an imaginary creature... It's a bit of a funny one, our patron saint isn't it? I find it very amusing that there is (round my way) a national pride which veers into xenophobia, on a day which is actually about a Turk! I am going to stay in and hide. All the pubs have special curry and chili and multi-pint deals on. Could get messy. Oh to be somewhere other than this bit of Kent! I may spend the evening reading Shakespeare as it's his birthday/death day too, isn't it?
kitbag
i didnt even know it was today! we arn't allowed to celebrate it in school, because of all the foreign people! St Patrick wasn't Irish and St Andrew wasn't a Scot, so I don't think being a native of the country is a qualifying factor.
poachedegg
We are having sausages (mine are sin free ) and mash for tea for the occasion!
fluffyfeet
We had a very English tea - Fish & Chips. We then went to church as my son is a Beaver Scout and they were holding a St George's Day parade and service. I also found out that St George is also the Patron Saint of Scouting!! Best moment was the parade of flags, which included the Union Jack and Flag of St George whilst we sang the National Anthem - Brilliant! Quite. I just find it amusing and disappointing that the racist folk in our society can't quite grasp the irony! Wouldn't it be good if St George's day could be as YAY! in terms of celebration as St Pad's? I stayed in and did wedding plans. There was allegedly some blood on the pavement down the High Street. Dang Kent and its fisticuffs ways. LOVE the fish and chips idea though. Very sweet teatime treat!
little chickadee
My daughter is carrying the flag for her Brownie pack at the St. Georges day parade in our town on Sunday. We shall very proudly be watching. I remember doing the same thing myself!
ubereglu
I had a nice St George's day, spent the afternoon when I got back from school gardening. Hopefully the cross of St George was flying from the top of the bell tower at St John's church in town too. I'll always think of a lady I knew called Janice when it's St George's day as she walked past St John's many years ago and asked why the flag wasn't up on St George's day and they'd said they needed a new one as the old one had fallen apart. This was not on as she shared her birthday with St George's day and so she bought them a new one, after she died in memory of her her family bought a new one as the original she had bought was now falling to pieces.
