Lesley
I've just bought three of the proper medicinal variety of Aloe Vera plants (thanks James Wong ). There isn't much information on growing them - does anyone have any tips? I was hoping I could plant them out in a gravel area we have - but I now think they are pot plants? I kill all pot plants
Christian
I water mine every few weeks when I remember. It is still alive and doing well. It is one of the few pot plants I haven't killed. That and ivy.

Lewis
We started off with one tiny little plant which cost 10p from my old school summer fayre. We now have loads of them and they're really big:D I'd leave it in the pot and indoors if I were you, thats what we've done. Water it every so often, when its dry and looking dead, they seem to come back to life They grow little plants around the bottm, which you can pull out and pot up and give to someone else. Aunty e
We never managed to kill ours, and I kill anything that grows in a pot. In the end it was stolen from our patio as we'd put it out to get some fresh air that summer It was massive by then though.
C&T
And they are FANTASTIC for burns. Mine looks a little tatty now, but break a bit off and rub the sap on your burn. Pain disappears straight away, and no scars! From someone who burns herself regularly on the oven, this plant is a "hand" saver!

Lesley
I wish I'd asked on here first now! I found an Ebay shop and have been really pleased with mine. They are about 40cm tall and cost £6.95 each. They were packaged in a small pot, a plastic bag, rolled in corrugated cardboard and placed in a cardboard box and all arrived in good condition. I don't see why they wouldn't go in the post to people if well wrapped and protected. Cinnamon - they are house plants ( ) - I wanted to plant mine in the gravel beds. Lesley
I told my daughter that you'd all said it was almost impossible to kill an Aloe Vera plant.....she said "so why is mine all yellow then "
Lewis
I told my daughter that you'd all said it was almost impossible to kill an Aloe Vera plant.....she said "so why is mine all yellow then " One of ours went like that. Re-pot it because the soil might have had all the minerals taken out of it, water it and leave it on a window sill. Thats what I did and its fine now
TheGirlsMum
I found my babies that i repotted went yellow when I left them in the conservatory I think they got fried, too much direct sun. They are recovering slowly in the shaded greenhouse.

stoice
I've just bought three of the proper medicinal variety of Aloe Vera plants Which one is the proper medicinal version? I've got an aloe, it's plain green with spiky bits on it's edges and occasional little spikes in the middle of each 'leaf'. Each leaf is quite short and squat, not long and slender like some others I've seen. And it's tall, as new leaves are formed it gets taller and wobblier. It has loads of babies coming from the bottom too. kinda like this but not so 'spotty' looking... Do you have a piccy of a medicinal version anyone? It'd be nice to have it about the house as I don't think I have the right type.
Lesley
I read about them and then bought from these people.....there is a photo of it if you scroll down. It doesn't look like your photo. I was very impressed with the size of the plant for £6.95 http://www.divinecactus.com/index.php?cPath=
