Guest
I'm engaged in a marvellous argument elsewhere about the worst ever Football shirt... this one doesn't really rank as that bad - but you have to admit it's pretty darn embarassing..... for those interested... that Coventry brown shirt takes a lot of beating (you had to keep the shorts in line with the top - else the pattern went off-whack!!) and Weymouth had a pink one (last year??) and for your larger fan... and just to be fair... Bolton have had their embarassing shirts too... note the pink-polka-dot one - I'd love us to go back to that! the least popular were the away shirts - 88-90, 82-85 and 77-81 because they look like ManUre shirts.... (but note how the shirt times have dropped... we had the same away shirt for 4 years from 77-81, now there's a new one every year... Guest
here you are Dan - pretty consistently (some might say predictably!) yellow and black - except you seem to have started off as Sunderland!! (the spodged one was 92-93) Phil
Cinnamon
Can I ask a stupid question, (& I am fully expecting a stupid answer) Why don't they just choose one they like & stick with it?
Guest
so they can sell new strips for little boys to want for christmas every year... (and occasionally because they change sponsors) Phil
Charlottechicken
Aren't the Wolves colours actually black and GOLD Not that I know anything about football of course I quite like the brown with cream stripes, very of the moment, if it was from the 70's of course
Martin B
I vote for this one as the worse. Not that I'm byest or anything!
Charlottechicken
That looks like a rather beautiful Birmingham City shirt from the logo Martin, it's not the worst, take that back!

Guest
I know this isn't a football shirt, but I can I throw it into the mix as it's pretty awful. Fife Flyers (boooooo, hisssssssssssssss) Believe me, when you went to watch a Flyers match, you always came home with a sore head, after watching THAT shirt darting around the ice all evening. AnnieP
I think football shirts are great! OH collects them from places he has been (abroad). My favourite is Sparta Praha (Prague). I think they should be more adventurous...... this is OH's cycling jersey....(not modelled by him) You can certainly see him coming! If anyone's interested, its the Zteam's shirt back in the 90's
theherd123
Annie i remember being on a French exchange and seeing folks wearing that shirt!!! Blast from the past!!
Martin B
Correct me if I'm wrong I think that Villa Park has always been Villa Park. Soon we'll have a different name, Randy wants to sell it to raise funds for a 50.000 capacity stadium! On the Villa website Randy said it will be a Midlands Based company that buys the Stadium Name rights and Shirt Sponsorship. Anyone for the BMI-Arena? theherd123
Where on earth are they going to find the room to build that in Birmingham!!!
Martin B
We're just expanding into the corners of the current stadium! We can't even fill that!
theherd123
Thank heavens for that, the road works are bad enough round Birmingham as it is without have a load more construction going on then hoards more Villa fans descending!
Guest
PSI hate that "we're the one and only wanderers" chant... I know!! all wolves fans do... it's why we do it - and we can keep it up for a good twenty minutes on a good day!! but we haven't been able to sing it at the wolves for so long.... that would have been 2003/4 - if memory serves we drew at the Reebok (1-1?) and spanked you 2-1 at your place... supa Kevin Davies got the winner in the last minute (I was there) we went up with a Henrik Pederson goal - and I think Camara (henri) was playing for you back then - he curled a cracking equaliser into the top corner... I think you went ahead in the 1-1 draw (Alex Rae??) - and it was SupaKD who scored again... (I was there too - but I don't remember it too well...) - though I do remember Paul Ince coming in for some stick.... That was in the days when you lot only used to "Sing when you're shopping..." for those who don't remember Burnden - half the visitor terrace got turned into an electrical superstore (I wonder which genius brokered that deal)! ahh - yes, twas very embarassing - it was called the Normid Superstore - a conglomeration of the words North and Midlands. Now the whole Burnden site is a huge Asda - I stayed near the old ground recently when I was up for a game - and I went into Asda - I bought some pants at roughly the place where the centre spot used to be (at least by my calculations!) - it seemed like sacrilege!!! it was a real eyesore.. (Normid, that is, not my pants...) here's my favourite picture of Burnden Park.. (JS Lowry, obviously..) P PSAt least we're still at our own ground - the Molineux! some mistake surely?? The Moulinex Stadium... Phil

Guest
Correct me if I'm wrong I think that Villa Park has always been Villa Park. but Villa haven't always played there... they started 1873/4 when the cricketers of Villa Cross Wesleyan Chapel, Aston, formed a football club to provide recreation during the winter period. Their first game was against Aston Brook St.Mary's Rugby team when they played one half rugby and one half association football. some would say that Villa are still playing half football - half rugby... anyway - they started in Aston Park - then (after 2 years) moved to Perry Bar - and played on a field rented from the local butcher. They played there for about 20 years... (Villa's Perry Bar ground was the scene of one of the earliest incidents of football hooliganism - as a result of which Villa were thrown out of the FA cup..) until 1897 when Villa built a stadium at Aston Lower Grounds on the site of an old Victorian amusement park (insert your own joke!!) in the year they built the stadium - they did the double...
