littleleicesterfox
Hi everyon, just an update. He's doing OK at the moment. Unfortunately, we have been here before with this so it's not new! His amylase levels are dropping which means the pancreatitis is getting better but his temperature is rising which means that we think he has a secondary infection so they were putting him on some anti-biotics tonight. He's on a PCA (a machine which doses morphine when you press a button) so he's drowsy but comfortable as he can be in the circumstances. The Consultant is seeing him tomorrow morning and hopefully we should have an ultrasound tomorrow to see if it's gallstones causing it but it was idiopathic last time so I'm not holding my breath! Blackberry is doing OK, eating well and hopping about but he has had a bit less attention over the last 48 hours I must admit! Thanks for all the thoughts and kind words and I'll keep you updated. littleleicesterfox
They found a gallstone! It was 1.5 cm long - that's MASSIVE! Now means an operation to remove his gall bladder but at least it means that we don;t have to worry as much about it again! PCA gone, catheter gone and now on clear fluids so he's definitely on the road to recovery and I hope to see him discharged somewhere around the weekend
Plum
Glad to hear he's picking up and although I shouldn't say its good he's got gall stones but at least it can be treated and hopefully that will be the end of pancreatitis.

Seagazer
Thats a step in the right direction then. My mum had her gallbladder removed in her 30s, she used to suffer so much (its a family trait apparently). Hope the operation goes well. Are they doing it now or does he have to be booked in for it? MedusA
Just caught up with this thread. Glad to hear OH is on the mend. Pancreatitis is awful, but at least they've diagnosed the cause and it can be fixed. *hugs*
