Back from my holiday and hubbie has agreed to a walk in run from tony. Not going to order it just yet as we have a lot of work to do on the base first and are restricted to weekends and the weather to get it done. Have just managed to scrounge some slabs of my inlaws though.....

hubbie spoke to tony yesterday and we are taking tomorrow off work to start the base of the chicken run. Hopefully should be able to order the run next week assuming we get anyway with the base!!! We have this weekend and next weekend to do it - but there will be lots of earth moving and block laying to do as its all currently on a slope. Also have to build up the piece that the eglu will sit on at the outside.

Looks like all goes to plan we will get chicks in early october......

feels like forever...

Yay :D:clap: . This thread's been a bit quiet lately so it's great someone else is starting on their WIR adventure  .

What size are you getting? Any special design features? (I wish I had a WIR to plan again *sigh* )

I have ducks 'staying' with me at the moment. Hubby is being very understanding and when we discussed where they would stay if we were to keep them, HE actually mentioned a smaller walkin run at the side of the house.

Fingers crossed.

"Staying" I think hubbys idea of a run at the side of the house is a great one! Once the babes move in with your big girls it will just be dead space won`t it!

well i have a very worn out husband today. Yesterday he put part of the base down for the walk in run. We used sleepers around the edge and as its on a sloping site it was not easy. one end is three sleepers deep, the other only one!! I have a picture but still trying to work out how to add it yet - the instructions look complicated so think i need to sit down with a huge bar of chocolate to work that one out!

Thought you'd like an update!

AAAAGGES ago we bought part of my run from Tony at Aviaries4u (Xmas and Birthday present from my parents) and my dad would then put it up and make his own roof and extra panels to fix it to the space i have for them.

I'd already shown you my plan but here it is again...

Well, my dad (Being self employed) got really busy with work and was unable to put the run up for months :notalk: I got hom from a few nights away to find my parents had been busy!

It's not totally finished. The girls are safe and dry on one side but the other side needs finishing and then the roof proper will be put on (Apex style). I also have yet to fully sort perches etc and their grubs are not attached yet either.

Front view (With blind down to offer shade)

Mezzanine floor and ramp (With green and a piece of bread as a bribe - as yet untouched!)

View of outer door leading to shed. This section can be divided off if i need access to the shed, i just close the double doors in the divide. Great for a hospital wing or for intros too!

What do you guys think? Sorry, no progress shots as it was put up without me knowing.
