This is the egg that we got from Snowball yesterday sitting next to Fizz`s normal egg.

 

 

Snowballs (Amber Star) weighs 99g ( Just missed out on ANH board) and Fizz's her standard 52g.

 

OH even forgave Snowball the extremly loud egg announcing song that she decided needed to go on for about ten minutes solid (at 7am!) when I showed him the egg!

 

Snowball is my little egg laying machine.....I don`t think she has had a day off since she got into the swing of laying and I think we have had at least one double yolker every week from her. And she is such a little character too!

 

Anyone else suddenly just crossed their legs?

Yes my eyes are watering and legs are crossed ..ouch! What a whooper that is. Have you opened it yet ? Wondering if it is a single yolk?? probably about 10 yolks at that size.

Yes I crossed my legs! We had our biggest ever yesterday (only 88g normally in the mid 60s) I sent out sympathy vibes to whichever one of my girls laid it.

I know eggs are supposed to get bigger the older the hen is, & my 2 are starting to lay whoppers now they are in their 3rd laying season, but not laying every day, & who can blame them

Snowball isn`t even 6 months old yet! I hope they don`t get any bigger than this one...she will be doing a cow boy stylee walk!

it 'could' be a triple yolker

I had a triple yolker early on, it was fab. cant remember how much it weighesd but it made it to the board. mine have evened out as they have got older, we used to get really big ones and double yolkers a lot, havent had a double yolker at all yet this year.

I was convinced Darcy Vader had laid an egg worthy of the leader board . . I was so excited but when I weighed it came in at 97g. It's the nearest I've been!!

Our biggest ever egg was 107g from Chance. If I hadn't seen her go in and out of the previously-empty nestbox, I'd have thought an ostrich had passed by, it was so enormous . No more huge eggs since though.

The double and triple yolkers are usually only laid when hens are young and getting the hang of egg laying, hence you don't get them after the first year as a rule.

Some of my hens have laid some enormous eggs - but they've all been eaten (yum). I never thought to weigh them before! The ones they layed last night all weighed between 53 - 58gms. I thought they would be heavier than that! Next time I get a biggie, I will weigh it before I eat it!
