HENthusiastic
Hi Guys. I read OH all your posts last night and she was really touched by all your kind comments and reassured by all your words of wisdom and hearing about your experiences. I have left her home in bed this morning. She's going to make a G.P.'s appointment. Its nice now that we both feel we have a sense of what we should be asking the GP to check out. She has been on mefasnic (sp?) acid beforeand didn't find it helpful, but that was about 10 years ago, so may well be worth trying again. She usually just has one day that is really bad, so hopefully today she will be able to rest and recover. if it is endometriosis would the pain last throughout the whole period, or does it still sound like that might be the cause? Thanks again everybody. ps I did offer to get her chocolate and other goodies, but she felt a bit sickie. Maybe today eh?
Groovychook
Sounds exactly like the symptoms that I used to suffer from until it was finally discovered that I had endometriosis. I'd been told by my doctor for years to just take pain killers which didn't bring me any relief whatsoever. I eventually had an operation last October where hey removed all the endo and since then, I've been mainly pain free! The difference is unbelievable although I have been told that it may come back and I might have to have another op. I monitor every twinge but wouldn't hesitate to have it dealt with again. I can't believe that I suffered with it for so long! So my deepest sympathies... I hope your doctor pinpoints what you're suffering from and that you manage to get it sorted soon. xx Just read your latest post... I used to get some pain at different times of my cycle too but it was normally at its peak at the beginning of my period. I think that probably all cases are different though. ClaireG
I always remember my tutor at college telling us it was ok to eat choocie as it contains iron but was best to drink a glass of orange juice with it as vit c helps your body absorb iron. So prehaps you should get K some OJ as well as choccie Hen. I hope she is feeling better soon and the Dr can help.
Alis girls
Hi Henthuisatic - how are you and what did GP say. With Endometriosis you can get pains at other times of month because the tissue acts under hormaonal control. Also it depends where the tissue concerned is - whether in tubes, bowel vagina etc. i think you need to push for tests, ? scans etc and probably a laparoscopy where they put a very tiny scope in the tummy button and have a look around. its 2009 - shouldnt have to put up with this prob now esp as medical proffesion know so much more. Jules.
Hope that all goes well today. I find my mooncup is fab for less painful periods, but ever since I had my ectopic 18 months ago my cycle is quite quick now, about ever 25 days, & also much more painful than before. Tell K I'm in the same boat as her today x Personally I think there is nothing worse than period pain.
HENthusiastic
Sorry to hear you are suffering Jules. Hope it doesnt last too long. OH is back at work today and feeling better. She isnt sleeping too well because of the HUGE lump on her head where she must have hit it on the wall or floor when she fainted. She has an appointment to see our G.P. on Monday morning, so hopefully things will get moving then. Thanks again for your help.
The Dogmother
Sorry to hear all this HEN. I hope that Karina gets it sorted at the docs - I had all sorts of problems for years and had to bully my doc to get it sorted. As Snowy has said, an ultrasound may be the way to go, to eliminate any possible fibroids first. Well done for looking after her so well - you're a good girl XX

littleleicesterfox
I wonder if anybody can offer any advice or information to help my OH. She has always suffered with really bad period pain, but the last few months have become ridiculous. Last month she got in such a state with the pain that she was virtually hyperventelating, clammy, green looking and tingly. This month, the pain wasn't too bad, but then came on really suddenly and really bad. About ten minutes after that started she got up to go to the toilet and her head was fuzzy, like when you have stood up too quickly, she said everything looked blue. She went to the toilet and when she came out she fainted. There was no real warning that it was going to happen. Shes got a bump on the side of her head the size of an egg. Has anybody got any experience of this kind of thing? Or any words of wisdom? Shes been taking Solpadol which have been prescribed by her GP. She says used to help with the pain, but doesn't seem to be helping now. Firstly, haven't read the replies yet so I may be repeating other's advice here! (*lazy forummer* lol) You can get over the counter at pharmacies a medicine called buscopan, which contains a drug called hyoscine - this is normally prescribed for IBS but it is an anti-muscle spasm medication and is also effective for the pain caused by cramping during periods. HappyhenSG
Sorry to butt in on this one, but could it be ovarian cysts? I was diagnosed with this about 4 years ago. My GP thought at first it was an ectopic pregnancy as the pain was so sudden and severe. It turned out I had a cyst on my ovary the size of a tennis ball. They prescribed some pain killers (sorry, cant remember which ones!) and it eventually shrank. I've had one since but again, it went away on its own. My sister also has this problem but hers is a regular occurance. Severe pain, swollen abdomen, passing huge clots (sorry, TMI), but no treatment forthcoming from her PCT. Hope she feels better soon. mostin
Sorry to hear about your back Mostin Thanks. OH is refusing to rub it better this time, as because I did it moving chicken food around he says it is self inflicted . I am thinking of ways to get my revenge on him. *Rubs hands and smiles in evil fashion*. I will bide my time, and strike when he least expects it , perhaps something will "happen" to his PC when he is next away for business .
