hellymisscloud
What a surprise! (sorry, photobucket will NOT co operate and resize to medium ) Sorted now. Egluntine we're expecting chicks on Wednesday but this little one was determined to arrive early (she was even talking to us from inside the shell yesterday ) We even got to witness the first meal - we were feeding Babs some live mealworm and the baby slurped some down like spaghetti just the one so far, luckily Babs is sitting tight on the rest of the eggs - fingers crossed for a healthy hatch of 6 more

laurmurf
This little one is a Scots Grey; we have 2 silkies, 2 aracaunas, 1 Marsh Daisy and 1 naked neck still under her - all looking healthy and fertile when we candled them on Sunday (that's when this little one cheeped at us ). we did have two each of these and 2 wyandottes, but they all failed: either clear or died very early in development. I'm still happy with the 7 we've got under Babs, so just fingers crossed for a few more little 'uns.

laurmurf
This is laurmurf's ED reporting on her behalf from Hatching central and i have an announcement to make.... chick number 2 is out in the big wide world!!!! It's a gorgeous little lavender Aracauna Haven't managed to get pictures yet, but will get some when YD comes home from school (on special 'chicken watch' release) to see if there are any more Names are still being considered but so far we have thought of: Scots grey - Nessie Aracauna - Violet (you'll notice they are both girls names..... we're being optomistic!) Anyway, will keep you all posted on any developments throughtout the day and please keep your fingers, toes and eyes crossed for us

laurmurf
Just went and checked on the ever increasing chook family and little 'Nessie' was wandering around by her mum, so fetched a few live meal worms which were promptly wolfed down by both of them. It was adorable, Babs would pick one out of the bowl and put it in front of Nessie and cluck at her whilst she played with it, and if the worm stopped moving whilst it was on the floor Babs would peck it again so it wriggled entisingly for the baby Think i heard some extra cheeping whilst i was there, but i'm holding myself back from looking until Hellymiss gets home at lunch, don't want to ruin any suprises!
