bronze
Plum I wish. I'm in the middle of prepping the house to get it on the market. Lot to be done and all my flock to keep in order (was trying to be chickeny but sound like a Vicar instead )
redhotchick
I'm going to sign up to Flylady, but not until September. I need something to get me started on sorting out! My place is very cluttered and it gets me down.

Peaches
I found the emails got on my nerves.... so I ended up following her routine without the "motivational" reminders. The e-mails have got on my nerves already and I've only been signed up for one day! Didn't make cake or shine sink .... dropped into see friends after work and stayed for dinner, red wine and playing cards ... Okay, will start again today. Plum
Forget email Peaches do just the beginner steps at first. Cathy go for it. I can't believe the difference in a few days and I am the worst slob. I ignored the emails except the 101 challenge. Now what do I do with the black bin liner now my bin is full, I only spent 10mins on it though.
Staffordmum
My place is very cluttered and it gets me down. Ditto I have "hot zones" where the paperwork just piles up - it's ALL "important" for one reason or another ... OH's idea of tidying up is to dump everything in the guest/spare room. It takes my breath away to open the door - I avoid going in there at all costs. In fact, he thinks most of my accumulated clutter is just junk and suggests it ALL goes in the skip It doesn't help that I've been unemployed now for 2 mths and he thinks the place should sparkle like a new pin ... AJuff
I've given up on Flylady . . it just doesn't work for me. I'm on my own and feel I have made some inroads into the chaos that prevails here. "Jolly Jobs" are going well . . I can't believe they haven't rebelled yet!! Yorkshire Pudding
Wow, well done - we tried to instigate something similar last year and our two lasted a week before they coudln't be bothered to do the jobs and didn't miss the lack of pocket money. It might be worth another try this year, they're a year older and far more mercenary... One tactic that does reap rewards in this house is using a timer - 'we're all going to go like mad through this room for ten minutes and then we'll stop' - as long as we keep it brief they join in. I've taken to tidying up after myself and never going up or downstairs empty handed - that seems to be helping!
redhotchick
My ex lodger (who is a self confessed cleaning freak) is coming to mind my house (and the cat, and the chickens) whilst I go on holiday.....tomorrow! Eek! As long as the kitchen, bathroom and her bedroom are clear and the clutter is limited to one end of the lounge I won't feel too bad just shutting the door to my bedroom! (and piling any excess in there whilst I'm away!) She's lived with me so she knows what I'm like! It might even be more tidy when I come back I love the "Jolly Jobs" ha ha ha. Your DS is very amusing AJuff.
Plum
still doing well knocked the yellow furry cobwebs off the ceilings downstairs today. anyone feel like staying with me I need an exlodger to stay who is a cleaning freak. My sink is still shiny but I haven't cleaned it again
AJuff
I tackled the guest room today which was full of dry laundry on clothes horses. Once folded DD (6yrs) delivers it to the correct bedroom to be put aay by each individual. I found lots of odd socks which she helped me match and I removed a huge amount of dust from the carpet! I am focusing on an area in need every day. I am pleased to say that I have finally started to notice a difference!

redhotchick
Very sad to say but I'm delighted with my recent efforts!! Well done AJuff. Slowly, slowly, catchy monkey. My sink is still shiny but I haven't cleaned it again Plum, I think that's the point. You do it once, and it stays done, you just have to check and maintain. I know I suffer from "must get round to that" instead of just doing it, and therefore spend more time worrying about things. Speaking of which, must get to bed! Chook n Boo Mum
I know I suffer from "must get round to that" instead of just doing it, and therefore spend more time worrying about things. Speaking of which, must get to bed! Snap ...I think I may have another look at Flylady, I did try it some time ago but kind of fell off the wagon - big time!! Nightynight!! Staffordmum
Does FlyLady work? full or part time? Am I the only one unable to carry out a "Weekly Home Blessing" on a Monday, let alone anything else "suggested" Tuesday thru' Friday ... AJuff
I can't see how Flylady can work for anyone unless they are a full time stay at home person with no kids and no life to speak of!!! I seem to have faced up to housework and have tackled all those horrible areas one step at a time. The routines I've put into place seem to be working well all round and i am no longer ashamed of the mess. The study is the messiest place now as all the unwanted/unused/too small stuff is in the corner waiting to go on ebay!! My aim is 'A place for everything and everything in it's place.' I am slowly but surely getting there!
Staffordmum
The study is the messiest place now as all the unwanted/unused/too small stuff is in the corner waiting to go on ebay!! DITTO !! And it's slowly creeping down the hall into the guest room! Good thing no-one visits or we'd have to put them up on the sofa Seriously tho'. OH is good at clearing up - he "hides" everything in the guest room. I take a deep breath evertime I open the door - it overwhelms me ... I don't want to be a "clutter bunny" but everything is "important" when it comes to paperwork etc. In fact, since I have gained f/t employment (60 hrs a week to incl travel) - I cannot afford the time to sell anything on eBay - and that's really annoying Rgds, Pat & Steve
Plum
I was wondering how you were getting on. I've fallen off the bandwagon big style, but some parts have stayed with me. I still get dressed to my shoes and tie my laces (good thing working full time, though I have been known to turn up in odd shoes in the past) Some elements have stuck, like the shiny sink and I keep blitzing small areas and feel happy to stop after 15 mins and do the 2min tackling hot spots but the home blessing day - forget it. I refuse to have postits around my mirror either and won't keep a journal. I haven't put on the flowery dress or lacy apron yet either. Kitchen next week girls, wonder when we get round to the spare room
bronze
I cant get my head round flylady at all. If I follow it the whole place comes crashing down. I think I'm getting there though. Mainly sorting rather than tidying as I have a lady coming to do a top to tow clean (or rather a team) next tuesday

Mainly sorting rather than tidying as I have a lady coming to do a top to tow clean (or rather a team) next tuesday I'm with you Bron, I just try to keep on top of it - Flylady's routines don't suit me at all. Now a team coming to clean for you, that IS a good idea! I once bought a voucher for a house clean as a maternity leave present for a colleague. She thought it was odd at first... until the baby was three months old and her OH was back at work, and her house had vanished under a mountain of laundry... Helly Welly
I've sort of sacked Flylady. I've used her routines and come up with my own, week by week. The home blessing hour does take too long so i've spread it out throughout the week. ALong with my weekly menus and shopping lists, my whole life is organised. Sounds dead boring but i've managed to organise two days a week for studying whereas i was struggling to find any time. So it may be boring but it's giving me time to do wha i want to do. Alis girls
Well mines a mess, trying to clean up round 2 kids, 2 cats and Oh plus 2 weeks in Spain and a weekeend away and the house is yucky. But they are back at school this week, ie the kids not the cats! and I will be a woman possessed with my hoover and duster. OH does bathrooms as he is a wizz with the Mr Muscle
