Olly
Last year was the first time I've ever really watched it (SCD) and I was hooked! My choir is doing a version of 'If my friends could see me now' in our next concert, and every time we sing it I think of Tom Chambers and that wonderful, wonderful final dance he did. It's entertaining, it's exciting, the outfits are lovely and IT'S CLEAN! I'm not a prude but it is a refreshing change to watch something that you could happily sit in front of with every member of the family from 8 to 80. I can't wait! Thanks for the heads-up, Egluntine. Not even a little itsy bit??? it is worth it if only for the skin tight outfits and comical celebrity cape twirling!!!! I will be set up on the sofa on Saturday with wine and nibbles! Mobile phone will be poised as friends will be calling/texting their thoughts throughout! OOOH Strictly makes me feel all chritmassy! **tootles off to dig out her cape and those fairy lights** Edited August 17, 2009 by Guest
Space Chick
Sorry Em All my friends love it, and I mean LOVE it, are obsessive, watch the BBC3 extra shows and everything. They made me watch an episode last year, and I have to admit I couldn't see the attraction. It bored me. They all talk about it in front of me and I don't mind because I occasionally talk football, and always talk chooks

They all talk about it in front of me and I don't mind because I occasionally talk football, and always talk chooks I kind of get where you are coming from Debs. I have to confess that, although I do watch the show, I always Sky + it and fast forward what I consider to be the boring bits. This may not go down well but this includes Bruce's cringeable jokes! Also, Len really gets on my nerves so he tends to go x30 as well! Having tried a bit of ballroom dancing, it just amazes me how well these beginners do and I do really enjoy the dancing part of the show. Space Chick
My OH has been on a night out with Joe before he rose to fame. He was a friend of a friend, and OH said that whilst he was nice, he was the kind of bloke you wouldn't want to mess with

Da da da da da da da da da da da da da da. Mmmmmmmm The only one I recognise is Linda Bellingham. Wasn't she Mrs Herriot and didn't she sell Oxo cubes? I need to stay in more. As for Peter Mandelson, yuk, fancy having to dance cheek to cheek with that creep but I suppose Nulabour have been dancing rings round us for 12 years . The Dogmother
@DA My sentiments exactly I have grown to love the programme, at Rosie's insistence. It doubled my weekly viewing and the ironing moved to Saturday evening to accommodate it!

Guest
We have always watched the show as a family, but DH has announced that he is boycotting the next series not because Arlene isn't there, but because her replacement is not a professional ballroom judge. I share his sentiments but I am not totally convinced that I will be able to boycott it.
Egluntyne
but DH has announced that he is boycotting the next series not because Arlene isn't there, but because her replacement is not a professional ballroom judge. But neither was Arlene.....she is a choreographer. I agree that her departure is a shame, even though she could be a bit irritating at times. Guest
Ok, but she is one of the top professionals. I heard Karen is not dancing anymore - also that she has been told she's too old. She would have made an excellent judge and I'm sure there are more than 3 ballroom dancers in the country who could have taken Arlene's place. Alesha Dixon is just a stupid choice, in my view, and it lowers the standard of the programme.
