Chicken picking at feet

Me and my Mum are thinking about getting the Eglu cube with about 3-4 chickens, but i'm worried, i was looking at a website where someone had written about the eglu cube but they said it was really Drafty and had large gaps in it, even after a man had come and replaced some of the parts, if you have or have had an eglu cube please can you help me becuase i'm not sure about the Eglu Cube anymore... HELP!!!

We've had ours for 6 months now and its fab. I would say dont hesitate but I know some people have had problems re gaps etc. but I also know it has to be on a level surface. We put ours together ourselves, quite easy really but does take over an hour. There are big gaps for ventilation but they are necessary. All in all, i love my cube and wouldnt have anything else. I would reccomend it definately as it makes everything, cleaning, egg collecting etc, so easy. Also, I have 11 birds sleeping in there at the moment They not supposed to be, I do have another house but they all just decided themselves to go in there together So it depends on the size of your run as to how many birds you have Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I have a cube and would highly recommend it. Like Chick says there are a 'few' people that have experienced problems, however Omlet have worked hard to try and help everyone recolve any problems that have appeared.

 

I do not have a problem with my cube and find it a joy to own to be honest. He's called Norman

We got our cube last week and it is fine, no problems at all and we have had a lot of rain!!

Another vote saying the cube is great from me

 

Only thing I would like is a nest box divider as my girls do not like sharing

 

Someone has pitched this idea to Omlet as an optional extra but nothing has happened yet.

Love it love it!!!

 

We have a and a Love them both but the is so much easier to clean as you can stand up rather than bend over!!

 

Have had no problems at all and can highly recommend it

We've had both and i have to say, i prefer the cube. It's easier to clean as it's higher up and the chickens love being all together. We used to have two eglus and they'd all pile into one And if you get a cube, you'll have room for the inevitable expansion of your flock

 

Oh, and we've never had any problems with any weather, no draughts and no leaks.

I have 4 hens in a cube and I think it's great! Ther are a few gaps but they are for ventilation. It is easy to clean and I think it is very well made I would definitely buy another one if I had more room

I've got and and and and hoping for a for guinea pigs............another happy Omleteer both types easy to clean, though cubes are easier on backs as there's less bending, & brighten the garden on yukky days

Wow, thanks to everyone who has replied, my mum now thinks the eglu cube is great... just.. its REALLY expensive eep tho wen people say they hav like and hoping for more i hope my mum will see what eveyone means about how good they are!!

Good luck convincing your Mum. I guess it is expensive but it's a one off payment, no maintenance needed and i can't imagine how long they last. And you only need water to clean it. Feed is pretty cheap, sales of our eggs easily pay for everything the chooks need.

 

I guess it's a question of how much your Mum wants chooks and how finances are at the mo. Maybe you could visist someones cube nearby with your Mum to give her a better idea.

Could you ask for the cube as a wedding present.....not from one person obviously (unless you have very rich friends ), but in the form of Omlet vouchers or cash to go towards it...would be a lovely keepsake of a wonderful day............

thanks for all your helpful replies, if you go back to the forum to Eglus, Cubes and Runs then you will see another post by me called My Mum lol XP (or sumthin like that) then you will b able to see how i've dun convincing her and also how i'm going to get a wooden shed for now... thanks again for posting!
