Reasons to be cheerful

Recommended Posts

I started a thread like this last year, but thought a new one would be good for the Omleteers spriits as we hurtle towards winter.

Here are some reasons to look forward to the change in the seasons - feel free to add your own :P

Red wine

Open fires

The smell of bonfires

Wearing your cuddliest dressing gown & toasties

Kicking up the autumn leaves

Big,hearty casseroles

Scarves - I love wearing scarves

Long snuggly cardis

Snow!

Candy corn at Hallowe'en

Christmas & all its gifts, both material & not

Having your long hair keep your neck warm, whereas its just made it swaety for the past 4 months

Having candles li around the house

Dark early nights, where its been sunny during the day so the solar fairy lights are all on & twinkling away :P

Walking on crunchy, frosted grass to the chickens in that crystal clear air when no one else is about

Seeing your breath in the air

Conkers

Ditto kicking autumn leaves (we shuffle through them at speed!! :D )

Double Ditto mashed potato

Warming up when you're cold to the bone

That smell of change in the air

The sun low in the sky, bright but with no warmth

Bare branches

Christmas spirit making even the grumpiest shopper smile in the weeks running up to the big day! :D

Mulled wine....mmmmmm

crisp frost in the morning so you can see where the cobwebs are (grrr I keep getting covered in the things when I go up the garden to the chickens now. I have to take a stick and wave it about like I am waving incense in a Catholic church)

wearing my lovely knee high Duo boots with tights and a skirt

snuggling by the fire

candles

mulled wine

red wine (errr . . . . actually, I drink it all year round lol)

casseroles and mash, or dumplings

footprints in the snow be it cats, kids or chickens

My Birthday

planning next years veg garden

Oh, no, it's all very different for me. We're coming out of winter, and whilst it's not been a cold one (by British standards that is...you should hear the locals grumble....we had loads of frosty mornings and even a smattering of snow on one occasion...a long, hard winter then :? ).

Anyway, I'm feeling cheerful about:

Daffodils blooming everywhere

Blue skies, gentle breezes

Spring lambs...2 of which I own 8)

I'm able to dress in t-shirts & 3/4 length trousers and despite keeping a cardigan in the car I've not needed to wear it for ages.

Trees full of blossom

Barbecue season again...we had friends round for the first entertaining bbq of the year last weekend (we've been chucking the odd steak on the barbie throughout the winter just for family  )

Longer, lighter evenings...means I can get in from work & still put Colby on the lead for a walk in the woods before it gets dark.

Line dried washing...so much nicer than tumble dried IMHO

My veggies...plot all dug over and waiting, pototoes chitting in the garage and seeds sprouting on the window sills.

I'm a summer lover and I don't care who knows it.....and it's on it's way :dance::dance::dance:

Making the christmas cake and feeding it with brandy

Long chilly walks with OH & the dog

Kicking crunchy leaves

Being able to wear my lovely purple knee length boots I bought last year at a ridiculous cost but love dearly and wear at every opportunity

Strictly Come Dancing as well!

Christmas adverts on the tv - I love them! People coming home through the snow just to see their loved ones and have a mince pie

Making mincemeat and umpteen mince pies - usually stolen by my 2 daughters who have left home!

Wearing my winter coat and scarf

I love winter :D
