I tried to put the newbies in the Eglu with 1 of the old girls (the least aggressive one) last week and she attacked them :(

I waited till she went to bed and about half an hour later I put the new girls in and she went mad.

I tried waiting to see if she would calm down but I couldn't listen to it for long :?

These intro's are FAR harder than when I had to introduce 2 hens to Rose a couple of years ago. :(

I would say that once you can leave them share the run, leave them go in the Eglu to bed on their own terms :D

Thats what I have done, and it seems to have worked for me. Once they have shared nicely for a few nights, you can then turn your cat carrier into an additional nesting box.

The ex batts have been sharing the run successfully since Friday but have decided to continue to use their cat carrier bed (I have a nesting box too), although today they have all been venturing into the cube, and Barbara laid her egg in there :D

Its going to be interesting to see where they go to bed tonight :wink:

They arrived on 19th August so that'll be 4 weeks this coming Wednesday.

Not really too bothered at this stage though, would rather wait another 4 weeks if it means the new girls will stand up for themselves a little bit more.

It was just much easier introducing 2 new girls to Rose rather than 3 new chickens to 3 oldies :roll: (2 new girls and Kev the cockerel who is terrified of 2 of the oldies :lol: )

We'll get there in the end :D

Ordering a foldable run from Tony to go inside the walk in run as the Eglu run is getting on my nerves now and the skirt is making it a nightmare to poo pick or clean the run :?

I've no idea what trees the branches came from :lol: . I'm sure it doesn't matter :) .

The only downside I've found is that there are so many more surfaces to get poo on them now :roll: . Ok if they're solid but the splatty ones can make quite a mess :vom: .

~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, I promise this is the final version (I couldn't resist putting the old Ikea shoe rack in :wink: ).
We had a forage in the woods this morning and came back with a few branches which we've tied up. Totally freaked the girls out :shock: honestly I'm surprised they didn't drop down dead. You'd have thought we'd taken a fox in there.
They've not been anywhere near it yet but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :D
Why do they always assume we are trying to blow them up whenever we put something new in to entertain them...daft birds..........my new bantam babies disappeared into the furthest corner of their house at the arrival of the dustbath........... and the unexploded grapes ...and the wooden perch in the roof of their little run :shock::anxious:
Evil mother I am, I fell about laughing :lol::lol:
