Stewpot was great wasn't he? My children really enjoyed his programs. There was that lovely little lad who used to have a cheeky laugh (was it at the end or the beginning, or maybae whenever Stewpot wanted to run it). I don't suppose anyone remembers Uncle Mac do they? No that is going back while.

Although slightly before my time I know the songs well, in fact just last week I downloaded those two and a couple of others, I get a lump in my throat listening to Puff the Magic Dragon

I do and I remember sending a request to him for Red Dancing Shoes by Petula Clark. I dont know if it was played for me because I got fed up waiting and went outside to play with my friend.

I too sent in a request to Uncle Mac, Chickweed. It was called "We want Muffin, Muffin the Mule" and it was played! (Annette Mills and Muffin the Mule) Petula Clark had a few hits didn't she? Do you think it is good or bad to reminisce like this???

I was a 'Listen With Mother' girl, and hearing the 'Dolly' signature tune even now makes me feel tremendously sad and nostalgic.

I had no idea Uncle Mac was born in 1897. I suppose I have never really thought about how old he was.

I loved Listen with Mother so much. It was actually a real listen with Mother time as my Mum always sat down as well with her knitting. How important those very special things were. Never to be forgotten. I do so hope my brood will remember some good mum/daughter/son things.
