Janepie33
My son is off to university today. A huge pile of bags is in the corner of the sitting room and I am hoping two of the girls will have laid before we set off so that I can send him off with a dozen eggs. He luckily has self catering accommodation, so at least he can cook himself an omlet in the first couple of days. Obviously I am feeling very sad that he is going, but also quite excited for him as he is going to be doing something that he loves - a degree in Aquaculture and Fishery Management at Sparshalt college. Wish us luck!

bigmommasally
I remember those mixed emotions so well They change to slightly different mixed emotions at the end of the first year when you have to clear out their lodgings and bring everything back home - nothing fits back in!!!! Good luck hope he has fun
Ain't Nobody Here
How exciting . You must have really mixed emotions at him going . (My brother was a fish farmer for many years .)
sadietoo
Oh...I well remember this time last year when it was first baby's turn to go off to uni...I was proud happy for her and sad all at the same time ( and confess to having a few tears on the return journey).... Both you and he will be fine.....but sending hugs for today anyway
poachedegg
My boy has just left with his Dad and brother to go to Bangor Uni to study Chemistry . DD is at Brownie Camp until this afternoon, I have to collect her later, so have to stay here.....not that we would all have fitted in the car. My words of wisdom to him were: 1. Use good judgement. 2. Common Sense. 3. Go by gut feeling. 4. Get the correct balance between socialising and study....too much of one thing isn't what uni is about! Reikiranf
I know just how you feel, a few day after Christmas last year we took YD to the airport as she was flying out to Australia to travel & work for 6 months, from being excited for her I went to not wanting her to go and hanging on for way too long when I hugged her goodbye I'm sure your son will have a fantastic time doing his course and do well, you will miss him, but don't worry, he'll be back, they always come back, and not just cos they've run out of money Edited September 20, 2009 by Guest
mountainboarddude
wish him luck. i am hoping to go to sparsholt next year to study rural land management, it seems like a good choice for aquaculture as the facilities are excellent and it has been granted a centre or vocational excellence award. i hope he enjoys it
Patricia W
That's a fantastic college - with graduates sought after for jobs in the industry. He'll have a great time. Tricia

Janepie33
Thanks everyone. He's all settled into his room and he met the other guys in the same block as him. They all met up and talked about ........... fishing! I think he's going to have a great time, but the house seems sadly empty with just the 3 of us. DD doesn't want to be an only child. Don't know waht I'll be like when it's her turn to go this time next year.
ubereglu
Good Luck. What I find weird at the minute is my brother started at UEA 10 years ago this year! He's now 28 and getting to the end of his PhD in Southampton!
