Hi all,

 

My Cream Legbar has come into lay and I have been getting green eggs.....I have taken them round to the neighbours and we all agree that they are green.

 

BUT aren`t CLB's meant to lay BLUE eggs?

Maisie's a Cream Legbar hybrid (Columbine). She lays green eggs (or used to ).

I think some strains are impure so lay green eggs, the same goes for Araucanas - some of my Aras hatched from green eggs

from what I've read elsewere some breeders cross a brown egg layer poss. a RIR to get better egg numbers and size hence green eggs pure CLB's are supossed to lay blue eggs

I just hope my Rusty is a blue egg layer at least a 3 week wait to find out

Our Columbine started laying eggs that where more green than blue, they then changed to more blue than green, theyve now gone back to more green than blue

My little Ada lays lovely pale blue eggs

We have two cream legbars, and their eggs are two distinctly different shades of sky blue (Madge's is a lot lighter - guess she likes to skimp on the blue paint.) Very handy because we can tell them apart!

my columbine has just started laying, 1st few eggs looked blue, now not so blue more green!!! I am not sure she knows which colour she prefers. I don't mind they are so lovely whichever!
