Paddy
I went to a James Bond party when I was younger. All the other girls were dressed as James Bond girls looking very pretty. My best friend and I went as two pritt sticks, bond - glue We got all the attention! We put sheets of card around us and a hat on top (couldn't sit down though!) and painted on the logos. It still brings tears to my eyes as one of the men came as pussy galore replete in playboy centerfolds plastered all over him!
Lewis
My mom + aunt want to a glitter party for someone's 40th ... they said they didn't get a g on their invite and so went in black bags with loads of litter attached

jimnpaula
Just caught this thread - for future reference if anyone goes to Holland always pick up a pair of wooden clogs, you've always got a fancy dress outfit even if all you do to accessorise it is with an edam cheese and some grolsch! Valkyrie
Dressed up as a candle at work once for Christmas. Quite easy really - sheet around the body (I was thin then), and some crepe paper over my head - the secret ingredient was a can of silly string in the flame and I reached up and squirted it at people! DD has just bought a Ghost Busters outfit for Halloween!

majorbloodnock
Not many people dressd up, the first 6 I saw were in jeans and t-shirts, i nearly ran back home! It's mortifying when that happens, isn't it. Years ago, I went to a company Christmas Dinner, and the invitation said either black tie or fancy dress, with the night's theme being "The Blues Brothers". I decided to enter into the spirit of the thing and, expecting everyone else to be dressed in black trilbies and shades, I thought it best to be different. My choice was eventually to go as the penguin, so I kitted myself out with the full nun's outfit which clashed nicely with my beard. Needless to say, I was the only one in fancy dress bar none. I simply had two choices; be embarrassed or brazen it out. I chose the latter and from then on had a reputation as a party animal. The ultimate compliment came the following year when lots of people dressed up, telling me they knew that if I was going they wouldn't be alone

A chickychickychick-ENN!!
I went to one as James Pond and had a duck and weeds on my head. Kudos to those who dress up. Yar boo sucks to the jeans and t-shirt brigade at fancy dress parties. Heaven only know what their non-fancy dress is!
