cluckingmad
Have been very naughty... saw an advert for some rare breed girls needing a new home yesterday so emailed about it... OH expressed reservations about getting more new girls as we've only just finished introducing our 4 wernlas girls (without incident - yay!), but the lady was so lovely and she's local.... So at 7pm tonight I'm picking up three new ladies - a sultan, salmon faverolle and blue cochin fingers crossed I'm not in too much trouble when Himself makes it home! Space Chick
Just explain the concept of chicken maths and he'll be fine
cluckingmad
gotta love chicken maths Think his main concerns are housing (he's the practical, smart one, I'm the impulsive can't-refuse-a-sob-story one).... sooo, tiume for chicken maths please ladies: Our WIR is 3m long by 2.5m wide. We have the cube with our current ladies in (the 4 little ones still sleep in their cat carrier, while the others pile into the cube), planning on building a shelf across the back for an eglu to sit on, over the cube, to increase floor space, plus numerous perches/CD's/feeding stations dotted round... so, how many girls can I comfortably fit in the WIR? Need to add that a new eglu and run are in the pipeline, just need to get healthy enoug hto get to the bank to check on monies!! Marvelous Margot
Can you not do that 'oh we've had them ages darling' - as in that new pair of shoes you've had for ages thing. . . if you say it proudly and directly and with a twinkle in your eye, then just slowly turn around and busy yourself with them, surely he can only but love ya! cluckingmad
He loves them!!! And thusly has been told how much I love him Flo the blue cochin, Suzie the sultan and Etty the faverolle are currently getting used to thier new home - or specifically, the large box they were brought home in! They were starting to roost when we get them home so we've decided to leave them in there tonight, at least they're comfy and have food and water... tomorrow they're going to have baths as their feet especially are covered in poo, will also give me a chance to give them a good once over.... Poor lass who let us have them was really sad to see them go - her little girl wrote goodbye letters to the girls so we've promised them they can visit anytime and will send them photos of the girls She also had a beautiful orlaf hen, another blue cochin, two silkies and three of the most beautiful silver spangled campines I have ever seen (one boy, two girls)... she's in congleton, cheshire and the advert is on preloved, so if anyone thinks they could squeeze in another few chooks give her a buzz

cluckingmad
they really are lovely birds.. but be warned - she's a registered pedigree cat breeder so there are masses of moggies (all lovely, but it was very funny watching the kittens playing around the hens feet!) cluckingmad
And bathing has been done! Suzie was great, as was Flo but Hetty really didn't approve of having a bath Gave them a good once over too - all three absolutely lovely, but lice in evidence so the nasty bity little whatsits have been killed off a liberal dusting of louse powder... OH got home before me and decided that the new girls should have some play time in the sunshine, so popped them out inside the spare run. Got home to find Hetty squaring up to Mollie through the mesh, even little Freckles had a go Methinks intros will be done veeeeery sloooooowly. On the plus side am picking up a secondhand eglu on sunday - yay!
