Lesley
I tend to hang on to stuff I love, but the amount of evil clueless 80s mums (OH's included) who THREW OUT or GAVE AWAY their Star Wars stuff - death stars, at-ats, full collections of figures. They should be locked up until they feel the force! That would include me then ....... my grown-up son reminds me almost daily that I got rid of all his Star Wars stuff. I'll go and find a stick to beat myself with
TAJ
My cousins lived next door to the people who invented Thunderbirds - before it got on BBC they use to make the models in the shed next door. My cousins where given some of the original models to play with - if only they kept them - they were just fun things the guy next door made. Would now be worth a very lot of money!! Sold it unfinnished as we needed the cash at the time. Probably was one of the stupidest things we ever did. ubereglu
Also, I miss the huge painting of daffodils we used to have, not worth a lot, but I still remember it hanging up and making me feel at home. It ended up in a charity shop whilst I was at school and I came home very cross....
Snowy
A large Beswick racehorse that I bought for my Mum many years ago. It was in her lounge for many years, but her restaurant staff and cleaners were in and out quite a bit. One day we realised it had disappeared. We never did discover what had happened to it, whether a cleaner had broken it and not wanted to say anything, or whether it really had been pinched. Nothing else ever disappeared. Very strange - and annoying, they are worth quite a lot more these days! Sadly not ours, but would be very nice to have - a friend of my Dads is a steam train enthusiast. He was in the church choir of the Rev W Awdrey when he had his first Thomas books published. Each choirboy was given a full set of first editions, signed - luckily he does still have them! Cooks
I used to own a 1957 Austin A35 which ws my first car when I was 17 and I restored it with my dad. Not hugely vauable but very sentimental and I cried when I sold him.

I still have a few of my sons' star wars figures. Some of them still have their bits of plastic swords and cloaks. When my boys grew out of them they went into the box of cars and stuff that I keep to occupy visiting children. My granddaughters have almost grown out of them, so at the moment they sit on the bookshelf in the conservatory awaiting the next generation. Mrs Webmuppet
I used to own a dark blue VW Beetle who went by the name Henry (the heap). He was my first car and old and rusty. I too could do basic work on him (with the aid of my next door neighbour and a Haynes manual). Sadly he started to cost too much money to keep on the road and had to go. docsquid
The one thing I'm really sad at giving away was my Grandmother's sewing machine - an old 1901 Singer in perfect working order. There just wasn't the room to keep it when my Mum passed away. DH still has his first car - it is now well over 30 years old. It is a Mini Cooper S rally car, complete with bucket seats, intercom, harnesses, free handbrake and all the rest. Occasionally we get out and do historic rallies in it. chickenanne
I still have my first car.... he's about 14 now, a lovely Micra. 140,000 miles and counting. For the amount it costs each year at MOT -time I could probably buy a "proper" classic car! But I couldn't get rid of him, he's lovely .
