I used to own...................

Recommended Posts

What did you once own that may now be worth some money,or worth more to you in sentimental value?

I used to own a copy of 'The Fantastic Mr Fox', personally signed by Roald Dahl, plus a first edition of 'The Magic Finger',also signed :?

Wish I still had them!

I think my folks must have chucked them out when I moved out......................

My Husnad used to own a heap of comics, all pristine & unread with the gifts still attatched to the front - worth about £15,000 now

Hubby has a beautiful electric guitar and handmade case - we sold it about 14 years ago to pay the rent, it was worth a lot at the time - would be much more now :(

We have one of the first electric bakelite clocks and it was worth a fortune but it fell off the wall and cracked  we still love it though

I think I must add my much missed gumdrop orange old style Beetle, which I totally adored.

Hubby did it up like new,& we paid for a proper paint job on it & a big cloth sun roof - it was just gorgeous.

It even had a litle vase on the dash for a single flower.

But it really isn't a family car,& we needed the money so he had to go :(:(:(

I once owned a VHS Video of my wedding dating back to August 1987, however, somebody who will remain nameless recorded a Millwall V Wolves football match over while he was at a Millwall V Wolves football match.

It was the cold side of the bed for a few days.

Eh? I thought you were a chap, Clash, and that there was a Mrs Clash. *scratches head*.

I am a woman, and am a football season ticket holder, and my hubby stays at home whilst I'm at footie. In this day and age you never know Egluntyne

Not worth anything financially, but I used to have a video of my Grandfather when he was on 15 to 1 (and came second), and it became lost when I moved house 8 and a half years ago.

I would give anything to see it again, and my grandfather as he is no longer with us :(

Regent Productions made it, and they were taken over by Fremantle Media. You could try contacting Fremantle and see if they have an archive copy they could copy for you.

Cinnamon - I used to have a VW old beetle too. The biggest regret of my life was selling that. I used to love the tiny glove box & the grip handle on the passenger side. I sprayed my wheel inners red & bought red window wiper covers. I made it look like Noddy's car! I used to flash & wave other Beetle owners & I used to buy Volksworld. I knew everything about that car & how to fix it. Oh memories.

Other regrets? Hmmm none that I can think of, as me & hubby are hoarders & collectors of fine quality junk! We also like Antique furniture.

It was the red 'he' above coupled with the last sentence that threw me into a state of confusion as I'm sure I've seen a pic of a Mrs Clash.

I'm not averse to a football match myself, whereas Him Indoors would rather stay at home and cook. :D

I once got a half sovereign coin given to me as a penny in change from a sweet shop when I was about 16.

I only kept it because it had the date of 1898 on it, I like old things. I didn't know what it was. I kept it in my purse for 3 years until I left home. I was staying over at my OH's house while my carpets dried after cleaning and it fell out of my purse onto the bedroom floor. His mum my now MIL found it and asked OH if I had anything valuable. She told me that it was gold.

I had a leaky shower tray to replace and I was broke at the time so I sold it for it's gold value which at the time was about £35, the most appreciated money that I have ever had :D

My parents in law used to own a few LS Lowry paintings. Not too sure what happened to them though :(

I do own a book by Jasper Fforde 'The Ayre Affair' which is signed by him inside and it contained a limited edition postcard. I found it in a charity shop and bought it for 50p. Not sure where the postcard is now though I put it somewhere safe

A beautiful cello that belonged to my DD. She stopped playing it so I lent it to the music centre, they hired it out. My DD then decided she wanted to play it again, I phoned up but they had sold it :(

Apparently they said they had told me that they did this after a certain amount of time but we were all gutted. She's still not forgiven me. It was only worth a few hundred pounds but she was really attached to it.

That is awful! Did you sign something to say they could do this? I would be furious. I'd have thought if you loan something to someone, it doesn't automatically make it their property

I think I must have signed something for them to have the cello but obviously thought we would have had it back before then. I seem to remember arguing with them but it didn't get me anywhere.

It was stupid of me really but you know what kids are like. I got fed up with moving it to clean up and said I was going to take it to the music centre. She probably had the hump and said ok - so it went.

I currently have a big keyboard and an electric guitar in DD's room. She played them quite a bit but not any more. I won't make the same mistake. I was quite tempted to buy her a new one for her 21st but she's away at uni so probably wouldn't play it now.

my ex-OH went to a Sex Pistols concert when he was about 17, and they were supported by a little-known band called The Police. This support band were in the bar after the gig, and he managed to get them to autograph a paper napkin.

He left it in his bedroom, and a few days later discovered his mum had thrown it away!
