Tiggy
has anyone had problems with their knees? It looks as if I may need surgery & having had surgery on my ankle last year feel a little worried. I saw the orthopoedic chap on Tuesday & apparently because my foot had been in the wrong position all my life until last Feb, I've got uneven wear on my knee & when my foot position was corrected it rolled my knee into the right place but my ligaments are now lax & I've been falling. I seems that I've been walking on a torn menicus & cruciates & have cracks at the end of my femur and patella that are healing (GREAT). I'm getting an MRI at some point & then the docs can decide what to do with me -- get a new pair of pins I think
fluffyfeet
I had an op on my left knee in April 08 due to the same sort of thing, and will probably need to have the other done at some point. Can tell you more about it on Saturday if you like. Dawn x
Blackrocksrock
I have knee probs too and asked for a referral to physio - went this morning and she has seen straight away that I have excess pronation of my foot and has told me to buy othraheel to try and make it stay in the same place - I have suffered for a year with this and hope that this can help or I have to go to ortho man as well!. Patricia W
I've had both knees done (arthroscopy) over the last 3 years as I have severe osteo- arthritis AND I tore a cartilage when being evacuated down the stairs from the 39th floor of the largest tower block in Canary Wharf ( so unusual to see so much damage in one so young - said the consultant!), but frankly they are going again. I know the next stage for me is at least a partial knee replacement, but I really don't want to do that yet- so I'm grinning (sort of) and bearing it. But for many people an arthroscopy can work for a much longer time - so I'd go for that if I were you. Tricia

Seagazer
My 18 year old son had an arthroscopy done a couple of months ago and it has made a big difference to him. He's had trouble with his knees since he was about 7. His knee would just give way and be so painfull. I think he's only had a couple of twinges in it and he has a physical job. It made us laugh to see Phill Tuffnel back dancing after a couple of days as ES was a bit of a wuss afterwards and was worried about putting his weight on it. Once he did though he was up and about as normal and driving after a week.
