janette1954
My Barbara was foxed this afternoon, they were out freeranging,I have 2 foxwatches and my neighbour was working in her garden, when I went up at 3.30 to put my girls away Barbara was missing,I put the other 4 away and on looking around found her body ( head missing ) buried under leaves under my oak tree, they have freeranged in the afternoon for 2 years, I guess my luck just ran out, I thought I was giving them a treat because the wir has got so muddy with all the rain. janette1954
Thank you all for your kind words, I keep wondering why the fox only took and hid Barbara, I wonder if the others were more in range of the foxwatch.
Chicken Shirl
I was wondering if in fact it was a fox! strange thing to do. The hens usually would make a fuss I should think if they were in danger. Could it have been an animal that they knew do you think? Just thinking out loud. xx
janette1954
The more I think about it, lack of feathers, neatly placed under leaves, neighbours new dog !!!!!!!!!! guilty owner,

BeckyBoo
That's such a shame, it seems to me that fox attacks are getting more common, if that's what it was. I guess with the colder weather they become bolder, I guess we all better look out. I hope it wasn't your neighbours dog, that somehow seems worse than a fox BeckyBoo
sandyhas3chucks
are the fox watches wired or battery? I f wired I have had 3 faulty ones. have you checked as bset youc an that they are functioning properly? agrree withBB at least a fix is sort of natural, you wouold think they would have made a fus at the dog too? quite a worry...... poor you
janette1954
The foxwatches are battery operated, I have used them for the last 2 years, I dont think they stop all foxes, just make it uncomfortable for them to hang around too long, long enough once or twice to leave a present on the eglu during the night though
sandyhas3chucks
having 1st checked the batteries, if they are ok, then send them back to get tested one at a time, tll them abot the fox. One was audibly faulty the other did other odd things, they replaced both.( only weeks apart too!) I "think" they have 4 year replace or repair warranty!
