henriette
don't blush Chel, it's a wonderful film, Sam Wannamaker is great in it too and when Sam Shepherd kisses her for the first time when her car breaks down, oh boy!!!! I love the bit where she's telling him all her personal problems cos she thinks he's a doctor, hilarious! ) You know what, I am going to have to watch it this evening (needless to say I have it on DVD (and video!!) Anyway, I do hope you feel a bit brighter now Ygerna and that you have a good evening
tooties
if I'm just feeling tired or poorly, I get into fresh pjs and have a session watching either one of my favourite films like Forrest Gump, or catch up with all the stuff I've recorded and don't get time to watch like Holby City. Alternatively, if you feel up to it, you could spend some time doing girly things that you might not normally get the time for - I do things like a long soak in the bath, face pack, manicure etc But if I'm feeling overwhelmed with everything, like someone on here suggested, I write a list of either: 1) the things that are worrying me - makes them seem less horrific somehow or 2) The things I have acheived today, and/or will try to acheive tomorrow. Breaking it down into smaller tasks and ticking them off helps me psychologically feel that I'm getting somewhere. Hope you feel better soon! Chucky Mama
What about looking a some old photos? Watching my OH on the Wii trying to hoola hoop or do the heading the footballs game makes me laugh so hard I think that I loose more weight than he does doing it. Gets me every time
docsquid
Usually, having a dance or going out for a bicycle ride or a country walk. But if I can't do those things, chocolate rarely fails
chelsea
if I'm just feeling tired or poorly, I get into fresh pjs Ooh, I'm feeling that... and better still - fresh pj's and clean sheets! (heaven!)
sadietoo
Another vote here for a freshen up...a shower often works wonders to completely change my mood... I'm an avid reader too, but sometimes when you aren't feeling well even that is too taxing, and it's better to be spoon fed entertainment. Re-runs of The Golden Girls ( I know) or Jam and Jerusalem do well for me, as does a favourite film (for me this might be, Whistle Down the Wind, The Boyfriend, Taming of the Shrew, Trading Places, Stepping Out, Forrest Gump, the list goes on...) Hope you are feeling better soonx
BeckyBoo
I try and force myself out of doors, even if it's only sitting wrapped up in the garden. Fresh air does it for me. If I can't do that I burn lovely incense to get the place smelling lovely, turn the music up and paint a wall, or move some furniture round (appreciate that might not be possible for you today!) If the children are around I try and put everything on hold (which I find hard) and sit with them, on the sofa, and watch what THEY want, or listen to them read. Any excuse for a cuddle! Hope you're feeling better soon, I'm off to try and have a snuggle with the kids (although I'll more likely end up shouting at the eldest to get her pj's on for the FOURTH time BeckyBoo

chickenNutter
yes, me too. As a child I was made to sit down and watch the Sound of Music every Christmas by my Grandmother who thought it was 'suitable'. I now have an allergic reation whenever I hear 'lonely goatherd'. Reikiranf
So Ygerna, what did you decide to do? I hope it cheered you up and you're feeling much better now
Valkyrie
I like a singalong to cheer me up - not easy with laryngitis, but some nice songs to listen to anyway. I like the Diane Keaton film too, although I haven't seen it for ages. Trading Places is funny - one that I like to see. Also You've Got Mail. Then of course Die Hard - go get 'em Brucie. My dad always liked Singing in the Rain - must be in the genes - so do I. But I agree with the Major - whenever I have a cold I have a bath - it seems to ease the nose (steam), and it does seem to perk you up if you are feeling low. Of course lazing in the bath at any time makes me feel better! Hope you have recovered today.
Happy chickens!
Hope you are feeling cheered up Ygerna - we should have got together for a little celebration of our joint anniversary of joining the forum, that would have done it!! Other things to cheer up with (other than chicken watching) when you are fed up and can't do much - photo albums, cuddle a pet, plan your next holiday, declutter a cupboard (well, perhaps not for all, but I find it strangely satisfying ) loud music to sing along to and if your friends can't come round, text them at work for some sympathy! Above all smile - even if you're not happy studies have shown that just moving those face muscles do make you feel better, honest!
Ygerna
Well, my DS2 managed to make me cheary, he is 18 months old and apart from 'quack, quack' has not said anything else but, he said 'Mah-ma' later after I had posted my OP Not feeling so grand today, but, at least I know the reasons today. Seagazer
Oh you should definitely see it. The kiss is fantastic as Poet says, she just melts. Also I love the bit when the plumber/builder tells her how much the house will cost to repair and she has a freak out in the snow. So funny and lovely. Perfect Sunday afternoon film. henriette
I don't think I have seen it - should I put it onto my must see list? I really think you should, but I'm biased!! I have a spare copy, (can't be played on a computer though as it is the wrong region number or something, but is fine on the TV), which I can lend you if you like. You can pass it on to anyone else too if someone would like to see it. Let me know and I'll seek it out and send it to you.
