Sarahsausage
Picture a mud bath and that's my garden!
bexbex
wow what's all that green stuff on the floor?! I think I remember that from a time before my chickens and rabbits were let loose on the garden! Great pics
beulah59
I don't have an up to date one that shows the garden ... I'll work on it!
Griffin
Mines currently a work in progress so I'll put pics up when we're finished, hopefully after Christmas. I fenced off a large part of the garden and sowed grass seed at the end of October. Slowly but surely it is growing and now it looks more green than brown in that part The chooks have wood chip down where they are and we're gravelling the dogs part. I'm hoping by next spring it'll actually look like a garden again and not just a mud pit.
atsw
Bit of a cheat this, but given it's almost Christmas, I thought a Garden Picture with snow might be in order . This was taken back in February (pre-WIR), so you can see the chicken barricade to prevent them getting onto the house patio (behind where I was standing to take the picture). CluckyBucks
That looks like a lovely large space for your chooks to roam and explore xx xx
batcatz
Tom, I'm very jealous. That grass looks lovely. Here is my messy mudbath. Cat run is on left and being used for 2 chook, disused aviary at back and shed behind. Aviary might be turned into a new chicken run in summer. View looking back to the house with small chicken run with 2 chooks in it. You can see the start of my current project to extend the run. Gelbel
This may be a bit of a silly question - but does the grass come back in the spring/summer once it's not so wet etc?
Valkyrie
You try and keep a good root of grass from not growing! Once the growing season starts it should perk up, but some areas may need reseeding. I think if you cordon off a bit at a time to give it a chance it should be fine by the summer - it's the scratching that does the damage. Our top half of the garden was originally mostly moss. One winter of girls scratching it up and we have mostly grass.
Gelbel
it's the scratching that does the damage. Thank you for that - my girls don't scratch the grass; just peck at it. They scratch in the borders.

chickenNutter
Ooooh ANH, that's lovely! Do they free range at all?
batcatz
Chickennutter, that looks great! I will have to copy you so my grass grows back. I think some of the grass just got trod into the mud by my welly boots so I can't blame the chooks. C'mon, more pics everyone.
Lewis
Just had to put a picture on of the ducks in the snow The WIR is at the top behind the greenhouse, and you can just see the eglu at the top on the right. The ducks are in a hutch in the side passage, but eventually we're hoping to get a new WIR on the right hand side at the top
docsquid
They are lovely, Lewis!
Seagazer
This was taken a little earlier. You can just about see the WIR at the back of the garden. Thankfully you can't see my grass as its not very good, can't blame the chickens but I think Cookie does a pretty good job of destroying it. Little tinker.
