skye
Hello all I've been doing my usual worrying and fretting over the temperature and whether our chickens will be able to cope over the past couple of days. ESPECIALLY the poor ex-barnies, who, although showing a few new spines, are still fairly sp"Ooops, word censored!" and Dorcas has a completely bald bum. Poor little souls, I really feel for them. They aren't used to temperatures like this and they've only been out of their barn three weeks I always think our wooden coop is too cold and potentially draughty compared to an eglu/cube, and now all our girls are integrated this is where they have to sleep. It leaks in heavy rain to boot. I idly brought this up last night to OH, and I glibly said - I'm going to buy them a Cube! To my complete surprise he just said OK to this, and calmly went on the Omlet shop and bought one online!! Even better news is that they have one in stock and I'm going to collect it tomorrow! Well done, Omlet and thank you, Roly! Our girls are going to be all snuggled up in a from now on. skye x
Mrs Webmuppet
Congratulations on getting a Cube. Get that power screw driver charged up! ( best make sure you have a supply of hot drinks to keep whoever is assembling it, going)

Valkyrie
Congrats with the new cube. Of course you'll need an eglu for future introductions.

skye
Well, it's here! And it's been given a temporary installation until we get time to add the legs and make a pophole at the correct height. We've just popped it on the previous plinth that we had for the wooden coop for now, but it's fine. Somewhat, er... snugger than Poulet Towers was, but I'm sure that adds to the extra warmth factor. Although there was a BIT of confusion at bedtime, they all managed to settle down nicely for the night, and Yolko stretched out with the nesting box to herself and all that nice straw and aubiose! One egg on the bars this morning and one clever girl found the nest Have also included a couple of new pics for all the ex-barnie fans on the ex-barn rescue thread to show them four weeks on. skye x
