Charlottechicken
A colleague had an interesting encounter this morning at around 7am. She was waiting for her connecting bus into work, in a very built up inner city area, when she saw what she thought was a large black dog across the road. As she is wary of dogs she slunk into some foliage near the bus stop, but as the animal got closer and much, much bigger, she realised it was a bull She turned on her phone to call the police and then noticed some police vans approaching, along with three men with large sticks looking for the animal. One of them actually asked her if she had seen a cow go by Turns out the animal had escaped from an abbatoir, and has since been shot dead by police marksmen, but not before a rolling road block had been established and the bull had a good trot around for 2 hours. Alis girls
Wow and you couldnt make that up as an excuse for being late. When pregnant with ES the tube we were on remained with doors shut at Moorgate because a gunman was running amok in station. I think they thought it was the ramblings of heavily pregnant lady

Charlottechicken
Wish the poor thing had escaped and found a lovely field. He would've had an awful long trot to find a field from where he was. He was less than a mile from the city centre. I imagine his demise at the hands of the police marksman was preferable to the one awaiting him in the abbatoir. Many years ago in my part of Birmingham, a sheep came off the top deck of one of those three tier animal trucks and was adopted by our local mad old lady, who lived in a rather dilapidated old cottage opposite the Co-op. She named him Rhiannon and he lived happily in her garden until she was deemed not fit to look after herself anymore and put into a home. Rhiannon was sent to the Nature Centre, near the old Pebble Mill studios, where he happily lived out the rest of his life.

The Dogmother
Blimey! We had something similar in Banbury centre a few years back... a Muntjak deer was spotted right in the middle of town, it panicked and ran into a shop, causing havoc amongst the stock. I don't recall how it got there, nor what happened to it afterwards. Wow and you couldnt make that up as an excuse for being late. When pregnant with ES the tube we were on remained with doors shut at Moorgate because a gunman was running amok in station. I think they thought it was the ramblings of heavily pregnant lady I used to get the train home from work in central London through New Cross Gate, home train station for Mill Wall's Football ground; one evening as we drew into the station, it was obvious that there had been a match and the notorious intercity mob had been called in as there was a running battle between two gangs and the police on the platforms. I expected the train to go straight through the station, but no... it stopped and the doors slid open as usual I can't understand why we weren't boarded and all held hostage!
