BTW, was DT matchmaking btwn Cap'n Jack and Alonso? I didn't get what was going on there (not being a follower and all that).

I am hoping that Alonso will join the Torchwood team (are there any of them left, apart from Jack now? :? )

Yes, really hoping he joins Torchwood. We need Captain Jack back.

Loved the final episode, i also thought the lady covering her face with her hands was the Doctor's mother. Did you notice that the two that were punished for not voting with the rest of the timelords were told they would be turned into weeping angels? Trouble is, there were four weeping angels in "Blink". Or maybe they'll become more weeping angels rather than the ones we've already seen.

I ended up feeling really sorry for the master, what a brilliant piece of casting John Simms was.

Matt Smith looks good, i really liked him in "The Ruby and the Smoke" so i feel confidant he'll be good. He has a bit of a crazy thing going on by the look of it, can't beat a bit of crazy.

I have read that there is going to be a new 13 part series of Tourchwood, here's hoping that it doesn't take too long.

Alonso (Midshipman Frame) was in the Voyage of the Damned Christmas special (the one with Kylie). Think he would fit in well with Torchwood, love him in Being Human which is on again soon :D:dance:

I think that there is only Gwen left now of the original Torchwood team but she is pregnant so don't know how much chasing aliens she could do.

I couldn't agree more! The weeping angels to me were some of the scariest creatures ever to grace the show and I thought it was wonderful that the Dr's mum should become one of them as a punishment. Definitely more of that to come I reckon.

The Ood had me in floods...

Just reading through this again, made me think of the Master and how great a part he played... it's not an easy part to play and he appeared very strong throughout...

The one thing that confused me in the last bits of the last episodes was the Martha and Micky thing... my memories aren't too reliable, but I thought Micky was in another universe somewhere, hadn't met Martha, and Martha had met some charming doctor? (not our doctor, the other guy she met in the last episode of the series she did)... I know some of the last bits were back in the past (like saying goodbye to Rose before she ever met him), but Martha and Micky fighting the potato guy?? Can someone explain that one?

I think Micky came back from the parallel universe at the end of the one where earth was saved by them all together and Donna was made to forget by the doctor...he said his gran had died and there was nothing left there for him....and I thought he and Martha then went off with Jack and were going to work for Torchwood..or maybe that's just wishful thinking! :):)

I think it was a future visit and the Sontarans were back....am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong! :D

Just watched the trailer for the new series - looks very exciting!

I think I caught a glimpse of Alex Kingston so I assume that we will get some more of the time travelling marriage - I hope so.

As Stephen Moffat is now the main writer rather then Russell T Davies presumably his stories will evolve (I'm pretty sure he wrote the one with Alex Kingston, certainly the Weeping Angels in Blink and to my mind a lot of the best episodes). His stories seemed a lot cleverer and darker. Blink won some major Sci Fi writing award, deservedly so.

I enjoyed the last 2 episodes but I did think it took a long time to end! John Simm was brilliant.

Onwards and upwards!

Russell T Davis said the doctor Martha met was her post-The Doctor rebound. She got it on big time with Micky in the end.

I swear Billie Piper's had bigger teeth put in what make her talk all plummy like.

The Ood singing quote is a paraphrase of a Hamlet quote and RTD had Hamlet in mind a lot across this episode. Claire Bloom (Dr's mum) has played Gertrude, and David has played Hamlet. His whole demeanour was quite The Dane. It was supposed to be a noticeable thing.

I didn't like the final episode at all. The green people were too frivolous, the whole ending was a swansong for Tennant, not his Doctor incarnation. It was too indulgent. I loved Cribbins in it, and Simm, and I loved Tennant, but it was too syrupy and indulgent. The Doctor keeps his memories, so it's not like he'll miss any of his companions and can't go back. Of course he can go back. He's a timelord! Totally pointless. They've never done that before and they shouldn't have done it now. It's a brilliant ongoing drama, not an American cornball one. And giving Donna a lottery ticket was just an abuse of Time Lord power and a major cheeseball in my humble opinion.

Gah!

That said, Matt Smith looks exciting AS from the new trailer, Alex Kingston is indeed back as River Song, Amy Pond looks fabulous, weeping angels... oh! Come on APRIL!!! :D

i kind of see the doc as equating to a trill/symbiant type arrangement. When the host dies, yes the symbiant gets a new host, but the host part of the personality dies with the host and other people will react differently to a new 'person'.

If you've ever seen the star trek episode 'The Host' http://sttng.epguides.info/?ID=271 it very cleverly takes the theme of exterior appearance and takes it to the extreme.

The doctor didn't say "I don't want to die" he said "I don't want to go"

Yes, he'll retain all his memories but he won't be the same 'person' he was before so IMO it's quite reasonable for his reluctance to 'going'.

I've never studied Hamlet so can't say I picked up on any of the themes from it.

Whilst I enjoyed it and shed more than 1 tear for the loss of DT, I did think that there were several parts where Russell T Davies ripped off Star Wars. If I was George Lucas I would be rather unhappy to say the least  .

Here are the examples:

1. Gallifrey looked exactly like the Death Star

2. The fact that the Master "turned good" to help our hero, just like Darth Vadar

3. The flying fight scene with the missiles was taken right from Luke Skywalker

4. The bar with Captain Jack - even the music playing in it

5. The incidental music throughout was very "Star Wars" like.

They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery, however, I say find your own ideas Russell T!!

Am looking forward to Matt Smith, as he is a brilliant actor. Roll on the Spring

The music in the bar was Tallulah singing from the episode with the daleks in manhatten turning people into pigs, DD spotted that, i was well impressed.

All the aliens in the bar were aliens that DT had encountered during his time. I didn't mind him having a big send-off, he was considered to be the best doctor during his stint, whereas normally they get that accolade afterwards, with hindsight.
