From Will at the BHWT-

Hello Everyone,Sorry to send this eveyone but this is a bit of an urgent plea!

Scheduled for this Weekend is a collection of 700 hens and so far only 200 have been re-homed, 300 were supposed to be going to Kent but now cannot, so we have 500 girls looking for new homes in the South West area if you can help re-home a few or know someone who would who could, please contact Gaynor Davies on 01769 580310 or by email at gaynor.davies@bhwt.org.uk.

Thanks in AdvanceThe Battery Hen Welfare Trust

Might have taken a couple but just can't get up there in this weather ... it's a good 2 hours from us (we had our first birds from BHWT). I'm sure it's the weather putting people off - it's due to rain heavily after the snow!

Same here really....to get there from Bristol will be a bit of nightmare in this weather.

Beulah59 if Tom getting some ....I could keep them for a bit until you are ready to collect....thats if he doesn't mind and is going??

I have asked henrehomers to put on their website too!!!

I messaged 80 omleteers on facebook and already have a couple of takers for this collection :dance::dance::dance: .

I'm not sure who they are on here though as I get their two sets of names muddled up  . I wish it was further north :( , but some girls are already going to be going to some very spoiled homes :D .

I've spoken to BHWT and I am able to collect them for people on Sunday as just at Gordano Services near portishead off M5.

Basically you need to contact them on the number above and they will ask a few questions and put you on their database and to let them know I will be picking them up. I'll PM you my contact details.

I am limited by the number I can keep (5).....but if case of transport I don't mind ferrying people around............and I don't mind collecting and taking else where.....can't stand the thought of these ladies not having a taste of freedom when could help

Tom - I will def pick 2 up for you ......can I drop these off to you Sunday evening....it just means then that I will have more space for others.

Griffin - did you still want me to pick up some for you??

They've all got homes now but sadly I didn't get any as they were taken before I rang :( Was really looking forward to getting some. At least they've all got homes though :)

Oh well, next time :(

Thank goodness for that, I have been tussling with trying to convince DH that a few more batties would be a good idea, now I can relax in the knowledge that I'm not needed :anxious:

Well done everyone who's getting new girlies this weekend, huge {{hugs}} from me & my little minxes

Mine are enjoying their first night of freedom with my friend in Bristol. They're actually very well feathered, apparantly they've just had their second moult which puts them I guess at at least 18 months old. They're very weak physically though. Sarah says she's turned the telly off and is just watching them
