Raina
Hi all, I'd love to get some new hens soon (mum said i could go to a poultry market next Wednesday) I do have another coop but i wouldn't want to keep POL or older hens in it for more than a week. (to me it's too small to keep 2+ hen's in for longer than a week) Soo What i was thinking, could i possibly cover the new & current hens in anti pecking spray and add bumper bits to them to help stop with pecking/bulling? I would let them FR together but our garden isn't safe enough. If not, I'll have to try & get mum to buy me a bigger coop Thanks, Raina
Jools
I can't comment on anti-peck spray or bumper bits because I've never had to resort to either, BUT don't forget that whatever you do about introductions, you really do need to quarantine any new stock as far away from your existing hens as possible. I'd say it's even more important if you're buying from a poultry market .....

Lewis
Could you get a rabbit hutch/run or something to keep them in while you integrate them? Its probably a bit harder in the cold but I integrated mine using a rabbit run, bringing them into a hutch overnight then after 2ish weeks split the eglu run in 2 and put the newbies in the one half with a pet carrier and left Purkinje in the other half with the . I'd maybe wait another couple of weeks so the snow has mostly gone
Egluntyne
I agree about the quarantine suggestion. Imho it is vital. Even though I do use bumperbits when necessary' I'm not sure that I'd put one on a hen who wasn't been found guilty, so to speak. Only if all else fails.
