dancing cloud
What seems like a lifetime ago (actually just over 4 months) I posted about buying a new car and, after all that time of being impatient, I collected her this afternoon. Here she is - Ruby says hello! Doesn't she just look a happy little car? She's a Toyota IQ3 and the photo doesn't show just how diddy she is, at less than 3m long - a cute little baby fun car . I did feel a twinge of guilt, leaving behind my faithful Clio companion of 16 years to have a date with a crusher , but the time had come and no one other than the s"Ooops, word censored!"page scheme was going to pay me £2000 for her. Ruby has all sorts of gadgets and widgets and came with the sort of instruction manual that leaves me thinking I've bought a car that's a lot more clever than I am . Here's hoping I still love her in 16 years Edited January 22, 2010 by Guest

Blackrocksrock
Looks great - a friend of mine used to have one of those tiny fiat things =really small and we dubbed it the washing machine - she referred to it as the washing machine all its days then! dancing cloud
Thanks to Egluntyne for sorting out the number plate (confesses, I have no idea how you did that ). Said hello to the new Ruby baby this morning as I went to let the ladies out and she looks so sweet she made me smile . Still not read all the instruction manual and a lot of it seems to just happen - rain sensing wipers, light sensing headlights, dimming rear view mirror - perhaps it would have been shorter to say what a driver's needed for! Seagazer
Lovely car, I must say some of the manuals are so confusing. I let hubby work it out then tell me the salient points
whoopsie
Ruby's very cute but a word of warning -IQs have no rear protection for the passenger and no boot. Crash protection standards (e.g. NCAP) are limited to front and side impact, they do not include a rear shunt which is often where an accident actually occurs. I do not know why this is but was horrified when I found out. In the event of a rear shunt the car behind would hit the passengers directly, especially if it was high profile (eg a 4X4 or a truck). This was very scarily demonstrated using a 'standard' 7-seater on an episode of 5th Gear. I'm actually very surprised Toyota designed a car like this. Sorry to be negative but i'm a car enthusiast - this car has not had good reviews or recommendations on the forums or even by the Toyota rep I spoke to! docsquid
I love the little IQ! We were looking for a new car for DH and went into the Toyota dealer looking for their sporty Auris. We didn't like the Auris but I loved the IQ. Nowehre near sporty enough for DH, but I'd have one like a shot if I didn't need a Land Rover. I'm very jealous!
