chick wiggle
Ha! thought that might get your attention Now, before you all come gunning after me, this is what my DD has often been heard to say She says it when telling me how much cuter her rabbit is than my chickens. However........ apart from catching her playing with and cuddling my chickens a few times this week I have overheard her talking to ..... the eggs in the incubator!!!!!! Well, if Prince Charles can talk to plants!

I love my chooks and miss them so much being laid up in here, I cant wait to see their little faces again up close rather than from the kitchen. and yes it got my attention.. Griffin
I talk to my eggs in the incubator, it's normally a high pitched squeek of 'come on little chickieeeeeeeeees'
Laura & CTB
Talking to incubating eggs seems perfectly reasonable to me, I'd probably be playing them some soft music too DS complained when I asked him to look after the chooks that they were boring - when I got back I found loads of photos he'd taken of them on his facebook page with details of how cute they were
The Dogmother
I talk to all my animals - get more sense back from them than any of the hoomans
docsquid
I talk to all my animals - get more sense back from them than any of the hoomans I talk to the chickens, and the cats, and even the little wild birds in the garden! DH thinks I'm a bit weird, but then he talks to them too, when he thinks I'm not looking!

chick wiggle
CW - I am so relieved when I saw you had posted that sentence I thought someone had hacked your Omlet account I did have visions of a posse of omeleteers bearing down on me with (as Fred said) pitchforks It just tickled me when I heard her talking baby talk to eggs! and, yes, I do talk to my pets, obviously! but I did think it was only me (and DD) that actually talked to eggs! I would never admit it out loud
The Dogmother
I used to talk to any eggs my broody was sitting on; I'd candle them, then talk to the babies. i like it when they cheep back
bluekarin
aww how cute! I talk to all of our pets Our cats definitely understand me (some may say its more to do with tone, but what do they know!). Thinking about it, the hamsters understand me too! I always say good morning to the chickens and thank them for their eggs, when I get them!
henriette
I thought everyone talked to animals.......... me too we talk to our animals, other people 's animals and the wild animals. Thought this was fairly normal I was a little concerned though, chick wiggle, when I read your topic title. Thank goodness you didn't mean it
mostin
Had me worried there for a moment you did , thought you had been taken to the dark side . What have you got in the incubator? What breed? How many? What is the due date? People need to know these things you know .
chick wiggle
The Dark Side I have 6 cream legbar eggs in the inncy Mostin. mostin
oooooo cream legbars , hope it works out for you, but if it doesn't then your DD will have the fun of talking to the next batch for another 21 days .
smokiechicken1969
haha brilliant. come on who else will admit to the 'goodmorning ladies' when you let them all out and the 'night night eveybody, sweet dreams' when you put them to bed. if my dog is with me when i put the chooks to bed i say to him 'say night night to the girls'. but of course he doesnt say it, coz he's a dog and he cant speak. which is a good job because if he could he'd be phoning the police asking to have me certified
Space Chick
if my dog is with me when i put the chooks to bed i say to him 'say night night to the girls'. I always say to my dog "say good morning to your sisters", he never does
chick wiggle
Of course I always say 'good morning' and usually as they all swarm around my legs say it to each one in turn by name with a little stroke too, and always 'night night girls and night night babies'. That IS normal obviously! It just tickled me that DD was talking to the eggs (she also plays with the chooks) when she still says 'chickens are boring' But Rosie is her bunny and of course she cant admit that the chickens are better (But we know the truth! )
Blue-DiamondChick07
Ive only had my girls for a week, and I can't imagine not having them now, they're so great! Also, this thread has really made me wanna hatch some chicks now
chick wiggle
Eeek ! I've bin moved,, i never felt a thing ! Hi, Bluediamond chick, welcome. Ive never felt so stressed about half a dozen eggs before
Plum
I thought we all talked to them. I not only thank them for the eggs, I chastise those who haven't and I'm not even bothered about the eggs really. I talk to them when I go down to change their snugglepad late at night when it was icy. Think I may have heard them chuntering back

Seagazer
I always check through the egg port door that they're all in (accidently shut one out once ), I always say 'are you all in' and I swear they answer me back My OH just keeps looking like this when I tell him but he always talks to the cats and dog also so he can't talk!
