Poached
Okay guys here it goes My dads friend at work has got a eglu and has asked me today if i can hatch some chicks for him and keep them until they are old enough to go but the catch is they would like ginger chickens but i am unsure of the breeds which could count,I did think about buff orpingtons but they would like 4 in the eglu and let them free-range during the day. They also need to be friendly as they have 2 young girls which are keen on having them!! Any ginger breeds welcome!! Thanks Josh
The Dogmother
I'd be inclined to ask the friend to browse some pictures online and tell you what he'd like to have; otherwise you'll only be guessing.
chick wiggle
The warren isa hybrids are sort of ginger with white markings so he would be able to tell them apart, lots of eggs and very very friendly girls , or does he want pure breeds? Raina
I know he want's you to hatch some but what about some Ex-Batts? They're Ginger lol
Daphne
you could aways do buff orp bants or buff wyandotte bants, or RIR bants or red sussex bants (tho I don't think these are very common) or buff sussex bants or buff pekins? If you're lucky, or get to choose your eggs parents', many buffs are a really gorgeous gingery colour particularly round the hackles. I'm sure other people will have some ideas - mind you 4 orp bants (and probably the others as well) would need a converter on the run. tom123
Would it not be possible to buy some day old Warrens as they are auto-sexing, raise them and then give them to him? That way he can have 4 defiantly, no boys and probably cheaper.

Henhathnofury
I have to speak in favour of the Omlet's Gingernut Ranger (also I think called Meadowsweet)....my Desdemona is nearly three and is the sweetest girl ever. Very very friendly, calm and hardy.
