Eglu cube or go up with 2m run

Our silkie cockerel is absolutely hilarious, it all started a few days ago and it starts off in the morning i go to open the coop and out comes the poland and then the silkie runs out and the minute he sees me he puffs himself up and starts to charge at me, and chases me around the pen until hes pecked me or i run out after everything ive dne for him!! Then if im in the pen and there is no fod in teh bowl he starts clucking and comes running up to me sideways or knocks it and kicks it. And he also gets very loud and clucky whenever i go near his girls hen he isn't around. Tomorrow morning im going to video me opening the coop then running, it is quite comical - will have to make a quick run for it!

thats what I love about bantams, they think they are so important and frightening but are so small we arent really that scared of them

He doesn't seem like a bantam to me though, the minute i see him puff his feathers out in the morning i run!! Especially in a dressing gown - i wouldnt mind if it was the poland...imagine a Jersey giant though, coming out being territial.You'd have quite a battle with that. Although i saw a giant cockerel - dont know what breed but it was humungous - what would you say is the biggest breed. I fancy getting some lol

oh i dont, i give him a tap with my foot and he stops, how else can i do it, if i bend down he will peck me and hes got quite a strong peck, so tapping him with my foot lightly is best i can do

Cole started doing that but I just picked him up and he soon stopped. Know what you mean about a Jersey Giant!!

I met a jersey a couple of days ago and when i was handling one of his daughters he attacked. It hurt alot however he got caught up in his own feet and after he jumped he fell over and almost did a total back flip sliding down the stairs . I have to say i didn't turn my back on him after that particular episode. (i did come home with his daughter though )

Lol yep that was probably me she's white and 11 weeks. I really should do a topic but haven't got round to it

 

LOl Cinnamon i can belive it. The most frightening cockerel i've ever met was a Poland he not only attacked you when you picked his ladies up but jumped on his perches to do it so he was coming at you at waist hight :shoc k:

We used to keep chickens when I was a child, and our cockeral used to come at me spurs first One summer I went in to the chicken pen in shorts and a bikini top, and ended up with huge red scratches from my shoulder blade to waist

 

My weapon of choice after that was a yard brush to keep him away

Phillip, our Poland was going that way last year, but since he's been ill and we had to pick him up a lot, he's much more respectful ( apart from to the cat!). Picking them up and carrying then around is a good way to show them who's boss.

I have to guard myself from the mighty Spongebob frizzle pekin cockerel...he does the same, as does his plain feathered son Bingo. I've found they are both scared of the garden brush, so I use that to guard my legs. They may be small, but god they are soooo threatening!

I thought i was alone in this situation, and yes i will youtube it, going to be so funny, i was thinking what my weapon of choice is, maybe a plywood board...im THAT scared. and my poland cockerel is the best, he sits on my shoulder and i just walk and he sits there actually perched. started from just ju,ping on my arm and running up my arm onto my shoulder! Couldnt get a better poland!
