What to do...

Recommended Posts

This morning I found a bird in the garden who appears to have a poorly wing. :(

Me, being the soft hearted sentimental type, caught the said birdy and popped it into a box with some newspaper. It has bird feed, water and is warm.

The question is what to do now :?

Leave it a couple of days and hope the wing has time to heal then let it go :?

Let it go now knowing that it might not survive - local cats & the weather being the two biggest threats :(

What about your local vets advice I have strolled in with birds, ducks, cats that I have found injured and they treat them I think they claim something from the RSPCA or tack it on someone elses bill, probably mine actually

Failing that I would do the softie thing too :)

OH is pretty good at advice on birds as he kept pidgeons when young (no time for chickens though  )

I think I'm right in saying vets have to treat wildlife for free ... (wheres Dani?)

I'd maybe keep it quiet and warm so you don't stress it and see how it is tomorrow. Maybe have a look if there are any wildlife rescues locally and phone them and see what they say :)

Good luck with it! :D

Thanks for all the advice :D I have contacted the local vet and they are happy to treat it. Im not sure what type it is though - not that that matters.

I was working til late tonight but did get a frantic phone message from the OH to say my little birdie had escaped it's box and while he tried to get it back in it managed to get into the kitchen and was creating all kinds of havoc!:lol:

It took him 20 minutes to get it back into its box but he said it was moving much better and making very good attempts to fly so I think another 24 hours will make a big difference. :D
