Wantchooks
Trying to work out the best way to hang some sweetcorn in the run and found these http://wap.ebay.co.uk/Pages/ViewItem.aspx?aid=230447634579&ebayref=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk:80/Innovative-New-FeedPole-for-Chicken-Runs-Eglu-Cube-etc_W0QQitemZ230447634579QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Pet_Supplies_Poultry?hash=item35a7bfd893&autoredirect=off&sflag=1on eBay. Has anyone bought one? Are they worth it? Anyone got any cheaper ideas? Currently trying to thread string through with little success! Bunnyish
i used a metal hook thing (with screw end), i screwed the screw end into the hard husky part of the sweetcorn and then the hook end i hung from the top of the run, works a treat

dannablue
I use a barbeque skewer for my corn on the cob and stick it in the ground, my girls love eating the corn off it. Bought a pack of 4 from Wilkinsons for 59p I believe. You could put other types of veg on there too. All 4 of them can stand around one and share which they do quite nicely....most of the time Will try adding pic so you can see what I mean: Edited March 13, 2010 by Guest

Wantchooks
Bunnyish- where did you get that? Can't stick a skewer in the ground as on slabs, but brilliant idea and photos!! Edited March 13, 2010 by Guest

Gelbel
I use the same skewer and use the hook at the top to hang it up on a tree/bush/perch - treat and exercise at the same time. Good for cabbages etc. too.
jimnpaula
I have the feed pole you linked to, it is a sturdy device and comes with several hooks to adjust the height (although, as a cube owner I needed to add a length of string instead) I find the pole works well at keeping the food clean, is big & strong enough for a whole cabbage (that mine are scared of). It's also h-entertaining for chicken swingball. The seller recommends using a drill to make the hole through the food. I haven't tried sweetcorn yet but would expect to need the drill as the core can be quite hard. With apples and cabbage I've just pushed a skewer through then followed with a teaspoon handle to make the hole big enough for the feed pole. Ain't Nobody Here
Me too but I hang it off a bit of wire attached to the eglu table . Sweetcorn swingball This was when my new girls were still scared of the old girls. Nowadays they're much braver .

Thanks, I think so but then I am a tad biased She is called Blotto and is a sweetie. I might give the hanger a go as the sweetcorn swingball looks like fun for them!
