Snowy
Just heard on the news that a young, male timberwolf has escaped from a wildlife park in Dorset! Not sure if a foxwatch would work on wolves! Lock up your chooks!

The Dogmother
Me too, my firend has a pakc of huskies that they race with - they look a bit wolfy and are gorgeous
Mel (& Paul)
No wolves round here - just two woggle doggles snoring contentedly in their baskets! and if one did come round trying to eat my cake I would soon see it off! I LOVE huskies - went husky sleding for a week in Finland a couple of years back - wonderful - beautiful scenery, lots of dogs to play with AND it was compulsory to have hot toddies - what a great holiday! The Dogmother
I forgot that you'd done that - it's hard to beat isn't it, especially at night with all the stars so bright and twinkling The only problem is that huskies seem to have dreadful flatulence
Mel (& Paul)
Most of them sleep outside in the snow - there were just one or two that were "inside" dogs and they came into our hut - a great way for keeping warm.
The Dogmother
Yeah, but when you're behind them in a sled, you're sort of down wind, so to speak
Mel (& Paul)
Actually we didnt really find that a problem - I guess its because the air is so clear and you are wizzing along the smell soon goes
Cinnamon
My Brother lives just outside of Reading & there is a place behind his house where they keep wolves for movies. They have about 15,I think. Its great to see them all being walked on leads around the village & hearing them howl at night
Mel (& Paul)
Yes, when the huskies howled it was really wonderful - we were in a little hut, just 5 of us with no running water, a woodburning stove and sauna, in the middle of no where listening to the huskies howling and seeing all the stars - no light pollution FAB

It was the sleddog rally in Aviemeore when we went away in Jan, amazing dogs, rather pongy though and yes like wolves really, all different types, from husky to mallamute (is that the spelling) Daisie got an offer to join a team but declined Buff xxx

Egluntyne
You can all breath easy...it's been captured. Got this of 'tinternet: "The residents of the Ivybridge area of Devon can rest easy, as the wolf which escaped from a wildlife park today was later recaptured in a quarry. The beast was eventually tranquillised with a dart, after getting out of Dartmoor Wildlife Park this morning. Armed police were among those searching for the animal - named Parker - which is one of seven at the park near Ivybridge. Devon and Cornwall Police said the alarm was raised when a woman spotted the wolf in the road around two miles from the park. The park, which currently does not have a public licence, is home to hundreds of exotic animals, including tigers and lions. Owner Ben Mee told the BBC today: 'I have asked the police to bring guns, but I hope that it does not come to that.' He said, rather disparagingly, that wolves were 'cowardly scavengers and would only retaliate if cornered.' Investigations were under way into how the wolf escaped, but he was thought to have jumped over the fence."

Snowy
Sorry for the scare - they definitely said Dorset on the radio though (I did double check as I'm notorious for forgetting what I've heard a few seconds earlier!!) At least it's been caught safely, wouldn't have liked it to get shot
