While out with the camera I took photos of the other two expectant mothers, Nelly & Francesca. The last two hatched in the night I'm so proud of her, every single fertile egg she has hatched Two wheaten Pekins, a partridge Pekin, a white Pekin and three Frizzles who's colour is a surprise but I'm assuming one is black. I shall spend most of the day outside admiring my new happy family The magnificent seven. Griffin Posted April 26, 2010 Author Share Posted April 26, 2010 10 days old now and keeping us all amused with their antics I'm so glad the weather on the whole has been good and we've been able to spend so much time outside with them. They're obviously enjoying it too and so is Tiger after spending three weeks staring at the inside of a coop. She's been sunbathing, dustbathing and has really really enjoyed caring for her large brood. She is a brilliant mum, I only hope my other broodies are as good as her. I've no real idea on the sex of any of the chicks, some have more feathers than others but there's no significant difference in any combs yet. My favourites are two of the frizzles so fingers crossed they're both girls Huevo, one of my favourite frizzles, has really long fluff: My other favourite, Poachy, lovely markings, and this is the one with five toes. I didn't notice initially but clearly some Silkie in there, Poachy has black skin One of the Wheatens. Griffin Posted May 6, 2010 Author Share Posted May 6, 2010 Odd goings on with the colour of these chicks I'm supposed to have three Frizzles, two wheaten Pekins, a white Pekin and a partridge Pekin. Instead I have two Frizzles, a partridge, two or possibly three wheatens and one I think is buff There's definitely no white going on And far too many boys for my liking I'm unsure about a couple so opinions welcome. They're three weeks old tomorrow. A partridge boy: pretty little Frizzle girl, this is the one with black skin & 5 toes: The mottled Frizzle, boy I think: Wheaten boy: this one I'm unsure about, wheatenish I suppose, definitely not white! If it's another wheaten I assume it might be a girl because of the difference in colours but I'm not so sure about it's wattles: the two of them side by side: The other dark one, but not with as much comb & wattle going on?????? My Lemon Pekin girls and my bro's buff both have darker markings on their tail feathers and like Daphne's bird they have gotten more pronounced in the last two moults.
