craftyhunnypie
I'm hoping Basshunter stays broody. I've just bought some Millefleur pekin bantam eggs, which I've been wanting for ages to introduce a new bloodline & colour into my flock. It's all very exciting & I hope in the long run I can put a Millefleur to a frizzle - imagine that! Anyway - Basshunter has been super broody for over 2 weeks now & persistant too. We have to take her eggs off her each day, as we don't want any more silkies at the moment. I will get her some rubber eggs tomorrow & place her in the broody coop on a nice fresh nest. I want to make sure she will sit tight - so will do the rubber egg thing first. Eggs will be here Monday / Tuesday, so if she doesn't sit tight to the rubber ones - I can put the eggs in the incy instead. I'm praying that she will sit tight as hatching with a broody is much easier & more natural - plus her broody instinct might as well be fulfilled bless her. Wish me luck.. craftyhunnypie
It's funny us calling her Basshunter - such a powerful name for such a cute fluffy, petite little white silkie! We also have Scooter & Dizzy. Rascal went to a new home due to him being a boy sexed at a young age & wanted so much by a friend. Bit of a DJ theme going on. Part of the fun is naming my birds...The Mighty Spongebob has a son up in Cumbria called Ben10. I'm saving for another eglu (nearly there) - it was going to be an eglu go, but I've decided to go with a classic. Now which colour? craftyhunnypie
Flat as a pancake again. I do have the incys as standby, but prefer a broody to do the work & it is so much easier to get them climatised too. Keep going Basshunter until my eggs arrive. craftyhunnypie
Grrrrr - Basshunter has snapped out of broodiness. I'm now desperate for a broody. Why when you don't want them to be - they are & vice versa? Emma.x
craftyhunnypie
I think we may have another broody. Button has sat on eggs all day & very grumpy. Will assess & keep my fingers crossed. I even asked my sister if I could ' hire a broody', but none of hers are at the moment. I just don't really want to use the incubator. Please keep on sitting Button. She would make a good mummy. She was broody only 3 weeks ago, it looks like she could be again. Emma.x

craftyhunnypie
Argggh rubbish - I don't have a broody, so the eggs will have to go in the incy on Wednesday. I've looked around for a local brody, but to no avail. Nevermind - I have everything to hand for the brooder etc - just need a new bulb - Ihave plenty of spares part used, but for safety's sake at first I always buy a new bulb.
