chickencam
She struggled to get up there because the bush is not very sturdy, We cut it back last year because we found her swinging on the bird box. Note to self must move the box somewhere more cat proof.

Patricia W
She probably thinks it's a bird generating box. Holly, my cocker spaniel thinks that's what eglus are. She sits by it with her head cocked on one side, watching the entrance, waiting for the next chicken out- even when they ARE all out, and even free-ranging around her! docsquid
Our little grey cat, Cindy, used to climb up the gazebo, onto the garage roof and down onto the nest box after the blue tits. Sadly she was killed on the road last year, and thankfully so far our other three cats haven't worked out how to get up there!
chickencam
This is another photo of my naughty Ziggy. she is sitting on a very nice robin nesting box which my dad made for me trying to get at the Great tits who are nesting in a very old nesting box which we made with the children out of a few bits of s"Ooops, word censored!" wood when they were little. This is the only one of our boxes which is definately being used. The one in the earlier picture was being but I thing they abondoned it before any eggs were layed. My DS said this morning when he was eating his breakfast, 'is Ziggy supposed to be sitting on the nest box' so I got my camera out.
Couperwife
I think something spikey on the top of the box might be a good idea cathy x
Old Speckled Hen
My DS said this morning when he was eating his breakfast, 'is Ziggy supposed to be sitting on the nest box' so I got my camera out. THAT is such a wonderful picture My little cat sits chittering(like they do at flies on the window) at the nestbox camera picture on the tele PS that robin box needs to be stuffed into a thick hedge somewhere fairly low down. chickencam
I don't know what to do with the Robin box. We have taken it down and I am reluctant to put it in the hedge because I don't want to feed and entertain my cats any more than we are already. I could see if I can find somehwhere on the allotment for it. We once found an old nest in the middle of one of our gooseberry bushes. Our Great tits are feeding their young now, I do hope that they can fledge without incident How long usually from hatching to fledging? Old Speckled Hen
Anywhere between 16 and 22 days. The hedge sparrow that nested in our conifer has already fledged four and I did see them on the lawn and in the borders being fed but only one remains. Blooming magpies!!!!! They come down like an exocet missile.
chickencam
They seem to have abandonded the nest. I don't know if it was cat related or not. There was loads of activity last Tuesday, then I was at work all day Wednesday and out until it got dark and by Thursday morning nothing
